Field Records is to release a two-CD compilation and three vinyl samplers of music from the label's artists old and new entitled simply, Collection.

This second sampler pulls together three tracks of deep, dubby and ambient music from French producer duo Polar Inertia, Remote_ and Sweden's Varg. His track 'Ohns Odegard' is a serene and autumnal bit of ambient with swollen pads and incidental synths making for a soothing atmosphere. Remote_'s 'Echo Of You' is just as wide open and serene but has a warm, rubbery pulse driving it along and finally Polar Inertia gets a little frazzled and intense with their loopy slow techno roller 'Sonic Outlaws'.

Active for nearly three decades, Japanese DJ and producer Takaaki Itoh has been carving out a niche truly his own in the realm of deep techno. Taking the helm of our next podcast iteration, Madrid-based DJ and producer Psyk jumps in with a beast of a two-hour jaunt into frantic techno hyperspace. Having dished out some highly magnetic floor wares for the likes of Tresor, Mote Evolver or Modularz and his own imprint, Non Series, Psyk sure knows how to steer crowds into some sort of super-conscious euphoria. Expert provider of big-room ready dynamics and paranoid narratives, Psyk flings us into orbit with his impeccably laid-down assembly of industrial-minded rhythms and murky, oomph-loaded grooves hatching out of the dark like alien eggs from a drifting Nostromo.

✈ To celebrate this new episode, we are proud and delighted to host such an iconic figure from the Dutch Techno scene : SANDRIEN.

Amsterdam’s Sandrien is known for her versatile take on techno. From deep and atmospheric to high-energy breaks and acid; her dynamic track selection has made her a dance floor favourite in her hometown and beyond. With over twenty years in the game, there are hardly any iconic clubs and festivals Sandrien has not played. She has graced the stages of Lowlands Festival, Awakenings, Dekmantel and Draaimolen in The Netherlands, Norway’s Monument, Rainbow Disco Club in Japan and the club booths of Berlin’s Berghain, Bassiani in Tbilisi, Basement NY, Tunnel Pereira and Womb in Tokyo.

In Amsterdam, she used to be a resident of De School and its predecessor Trouw. The latter was home to Sandrien’s own techno club nights ‘Imprint’, through which she hosted a variety of national and international artists including Ben Sims, DVS1, Marcel Dettman, Oscar Mulero, Peter van Hoesen and Rødhåd. In addition, she was one of the founders of the city’s long-running LGBTQIA+ event series IsBurning.

For years, Sandrien spent her weekdays working in Amsterdam’s renowned record stores Rush Hour and Killacutz. This speaks to the imagination of her incredible record collection and musical knowledge. Her extensive library is precisely why she’s a champion of playing longer DJ sets, during which she always manages to build a solid bridge between old-school techno, and adventurous fresh sounds. Sandrien’s experience and ability to adapt to any setting also shows in her love for playing back-to-back with other artists, including DJ Nobu, Ben Sims and Philippa Pacho.

Occasionally, she likes to give the more house-leaning part of her collection a spin; high energy and acidic basslines woven together by the same solid groove her techno sets are known for.

A1) The first track of the compilation, „Nuk“ by subjected is based on square sounding loops, driven by soft as well as dynamic sounding hi hats. It’s character would suit openings and peak time sets.

A2) Second track produced by Italian powerhouse - Kaiser is filled with pulsating sounds, which makes you feel as if you are space traveling, leaving you with an impression of touching the future instead of the past. 

B1) „SX One“, starting with a moody pads smoothly turns into properly stomping track. When the throbbing sound is appearing we have no doubt that this track would perfectly suit big room venues. Great track by the rising techno queen Denise Rabe.

B2) Coming to an end, we meet a track of another Italian producer. MTD delivers a hypnotic and pounding piece, gradually releasing it’s uprising temper.

B1 Denise Rabe - SX One (Original Mix)

"Virée nocturne" marks introspective Swiss artist Mr. Doe's first release, telling the tale of this vivid, yet unexplainable energy nighttime shadows over one. During the process, what was a 4 track EP shaped itself into a 2 track EP, losing elements like one loses memories of those nights, incomplete and confused, triggered by first track ''mauvaise fée''. With an inherent groove mingling in high pitched confused notes yet paved by a heavy kick drum, the opening track unfolds into mysterious french voices, leading slowly to an up-tempo, entirely analog track pushing us one step further into an acid, fast pulsating dream, ''Il était une nuit''.

This first EP sets a bar of modern experimentations between tales and stories of nights the artist lived, nights that shaped Techno and the works of its inherent groove into two track building up from digital to analog, usual to fast-paced and ultimately inviting its listener to let loose into this research for an inner madness.
