Directed by God Father of Grunge Folk Wild Willy Barrett, this dynamic quartet brings a touch of “oo-la-la” to the UK as French chanteuse extraordinaire Aurora Colson takes centre stage, leaving the musicians to demonstrate their individual talents.

This Francophile adventure was originally inspired by Parisian singer Marie-Laure Hucher, who is regrettably unable to continue to tour in the UK due to her other commitments in France. As a result, the band is very happy to welcome on board French vocalist Aurora Colson. Originally from Nancy, county of Lorraine in the East of France, Aurora has a foot on both sides of the Channel, for she has been living and singing in London for more than 11 years.

Captivating audiences both English and French alike with her compelling and expressive vocals, she effortlessly tackles a wide range of styles:
From Gypsy jazz to traditional Celtic, with an occasional hint of Piaf thrown into the mix, her natural “pazzaz” and charmingly French personality shine through.

Aurora has a fond love for Jazz and «chansons rétro» and is planning on bringing an even more “Retro French Touch” to the formation: 
"I was always interested in music while I was growing up - singing all the time, playing a little keyboard as a pre-teen, grabbing opportunities to play my Dad’s drum kit when I was a teenager. I also discovered the old songs by Charles Trénet, Yves Montand, Édith Piaf and others that my grandparents were playing on their radios – I just loved these."

But if you are looking for a truly original show, full of humour and surprises, where violin, banjo, Uilleann pipes and percussion intertwine with powerful vocals, or where cello, guitar and flute compliment the mesmerizing voice of our singer, then we are the ones you were waiting for!

Wild Willy Barrett’s French Connection has been touring the UK this autumn, with a new handful of concerts already programmed for February and June 2015.

"Moonlight in Vermont" is a popular song about the U.S. state of Vermont, written by John Blackburn and Karl Suessdorf and published in 1943.

The lyrics are unusual in that they do not rhyme. John Blackburn, the lyricist, has been quoted as saying, "After completing the first 12 bars of the lyric, I realized there was no rhyme and then said to Karl, 'Let’s follow the pattern of no rhyme throughout the song. It seemed right.'"
The lyrics are also metrically interesting in that each verse (not counting the bridge) is a haiku. The song is considered an unofficial state song of Vermont and is frequently played as the first dance song at Vermont wedding receptions.

The song was recorded by Jo Stafford in 1946, Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong in 1956, Frank Sinatra in 1957, Sarah Vaughan in 1958, Earl Grant in 1961, and Willie Nelson in 1978. 

There are few sycamore trees in Vermont and few meadowlarks; Blackburn, who wrote the lyrics, was from Ohio.
