50WEAPONS has finally hit the ceiling. A full decade after the Modeselektor dudes first drunkenly conjured up the concept, the label is due to run its course; but, true to form, not without a bang. Having embarked on an unassailable run since the turn of the decade – especially important in joining the dots between Dettmann and Dark Sky at a time when those two seemed worlds apart – releases #40-50 somehow look even stronger than their recent past. And, as a special treat, we'll be bringing you one Debut a week from October 5th until the end of the year to bid them a fitting farewell.

You've got familiar faces in Shed and Phon.o sitting alongside debutants like Zenker Brothers and Rødhåd, plus (duh) the Monkeytown men themselves. "50 Trees", featuring moody dub vet Paul St. Hilaire on the flip, will be the very last Weapon cut to wax: dense, foreboding and somewhat like staggering into the unknown – which makes sense for obvious reasons.

50WEAPONS is dead; long live 50WEAPONS.

Modeselektor "50 Trees" - Boiler Room Debuts

This week's instalment of our 50WEAPONS Debut series comes from label veterans and longtime collaborators, Benjamin Damage & Doc Daneeka. Their first collaborative release was the "Creeper" 12", which got played out to a huge San Fran crowed by Modeselektor themselves. Damage & Daneeka subsequently signed to 50WEAPONS the very next day.

Five years on, they show their support in the final ten, poignant releases on the label, #40-50, by appearing on #42 alongside Bicep, as well as #48 with Truncate. For "Kansas", the duo keep it in the family, honing in on the familiar sonic world of whirring, mechanical techno. A sound that the Berlin-based label are well acclaimed for by now.

50WEAPONS42 is out on 23rd October (physi + digi).

Lo and behold; today marks the very last instalment in our ten-part Debut series with 50WEAPONS. What better way to round it off than with a 12" of techno head-splitters from two notable Berlin heads – FJAAK and Dystopian head, Rødhåd. A powerful combination that cements Berlin's ever strong, unfaltering plight in the techno world of today.

Rødhåd's 50WEAPONS inauguration may be delayed but, falling in at catalogue number #049 (close second to the grand finale), it's better late than ever. In the Elder Scrolls game-inspired "Oblivion", factory line drums pummel softly underneath, whilst faint synth sirens circle overhead. We can almost feel the smoke-filled, strobe-lit warehouse now. A noble sendoff to the prestigious 50W imprint, with some much revered Dystopian flavour. R.I.P. 50WEAPONS
