Motivo - Forced (SOMA SELECTS Premiere]

DJ Ashtron is a life-long vinyl collector, producer, improviser and classically-trained pianist
based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. His DJ sets feature late 90’s & early 00’s underground techno
taking listeners on a hard-hitting, percussive journey by using an instinctive sense of tension
created from swiftly phased blends and interlocking raw textures and harmonies. Using live
keyboard improvisation and mixing vinyl on two to three turntables, Ashtron always brings a new
element to his performance when fusing funk and jazz keyboard influences with Tribal/Samba
oriented techno records. In his productions, he combines prepared piano techniques from
20th-century classical music with raw, hypnotic techno and has released music on Oneiros
Records (Toronto/Dublin) and Phaaser (Nashville).
