'Herbstlaub' is the second part of Rampue’s single trilogy; three vocal house pieces that are independent of each other yet also related. The Berlin producer and Dj hammers his way self-confidentally but quietly through the jungle of the nervous system to the feet and to hearts.
Herbstlaub: The timber is moist and heavy and the dead leaves dance inbetween it like snowflakes. A thirty year old echo starts off weakly but eventually comes back. The breath condenses and makes the glass visible; the calming existence of a boundary between you and the world.

Destined to become a world-class burner EP pressed on high-quality vinyl and released April 2013-Cheick Mix highlights an ancient-to-the-future aspect of  Cheick Hamala's breadth as a genre-bending experimental artist who has one foot firmly planted in tradition and roots but also a keen focused eye on the limitless possibilities of cross-cultural exchange via global collaboration with artists outside of his legacy as a griot.

Cheick Hamala Diabate is a musician from Mali, West Africa who has been nominated for a Grammy award. Using Adelphi, Maryland as his home he travels all over the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia. He has performed at the Kennedy Center, the United States Senate, and the Smithsonian Institution. Cheick Hamala was born into a griot family in Kita, Mali. From a young age he learned to play the ngoni, a stringed instrument related to the American banjo. In addition, Cheick has learned the history of Mali passed down for over 800 years. Cheick has performed internationally. He is recognized as one of the world's masters of the ngoni, a Malian traditional instrument and a West African historian in the Griot tradition.

Benin City - My Love

The Gene Dudley Group represents an outpouring of deep soul and funk music from obscenely talented 27 year-old multi-instrumentalist residing in North London, Gene Dudley.  

Both tracks on the debut release from this one-man band were recorded in Gene’s bedroom studio and feature him on trumpet, saxophone, drums, bass, guitar and piano.

Fans of labels like Truth & Soul and Daptone will relish these sonorous soulful offerings, and will no doubt be hotly anticipating the debut long-player, due for release this summer on Wah Wah 45s. 

In the live arena, rather than trying to play all the instruments himself, Gene deploys a quartet of top notch young musicians to help him out (whilst Gene mixes it up between bass and keys throughout the set) as witnessed at the recent Hot 8 Brass Band gig in London, The Gene Dudley Group’s debut live show.

Look out for the band performing live this spring across the UK, and watch this space for so much more to come from this new star of the deep funk and soul scene.
