The EP “A form of travel unknown to humans” is chasing us. Guiding and forcing a way simultaneously. The sound is harsh but has an immaculate precision to it –void of air- compelling the listener toward a light, seducing us to tear through the night.

We enter with „S.M.O.D. - STICKS” a deep and magnetic sound opening up slowly, starting to breathe and to merge into “S.M.O.D. - CELL CULTURE” which gives a much more metallic flavour but never the less beat driven - fast and strident- maybe even hasty, pushing to skip a beat of the heart. To finish off with “S.M.O.D - Pulse” carrying an unsettling almost disturbing quality, formulating a mechanical sound alienated from the human experience. The EP creates a seductive space outside our comfort zone, inviting to explore a space and travel unknown to humans. Gimme more.

Taktschleife is a new label project from the Springstoff stable that is situated in Berlin.

Launching the new branch brings together the label head Smilla who known for his deep, spacious, abstract techno jams, with the ever-present dedication of Oliver Deutschmann who lists labels such as Scuba’s Hotflush, Andre Crom’s OFF Recordings or Luke Slater’s Mote Evolver, amongst many others.

Titled A Form Travel Unknown To Humans this three track collection of new original material makes a very exciting listen, using classy analogue sounds full of wonder and depth.

The track we selected for this DT:Premiere is second offering called “Sticks” that has a warm and funky groove using a sub bass and bass stabs to create sound waves with a smooth, liquid-type influence. Pulsing notes add to the dramatic tension as they grow with intensity and fade back in the mix showing an organic feel with a machine like back bone, that is certain to work the dance floor into a twisted and hypnotic frenzy.

S.M.O.D. did it again. “The balance of the mind is its own place” is ravishing the listener with a surprisingly bold brush stroke. Nothing is as it seems. 

Pacey, striving forward, forcing movement the EP is creating a strong counterpoint to it s titles. And seduces to pose the philosophical question: do we reach balance through stillness? All three titles are the gorgeous techno manifestation of a place not being a location, but rather a condition, a space of movement. Taktschleife in its 5th round represents a fresh artist from the Belgium techno scene – Davinson! After having first contact recently on Tronic and TW-Records, he’s now ready to leave earth with us on his „Overdose EP“ – a four tracker with high quality stuff for blasting off. 

The first dose is for the „Rave Nation“ and comes slowly but well-tempered. Giving a hint of where the trip goes as it’s acting with a vibrant tension. Next chapter is „Fusion“ and gathers the energy for a proper atmospheric techno ride. The heat is finally on with a mighty sequenced acid line, which screws all the way. Following the „Acid Overdose“, the 303 starts burning and spends hereby an extra-thrill of wicked sounds. Backed by some heavily banging beats, it’s challenging the floors for the real stomping ravers. After the fully dosed rocket has bursted the time machine, we will all be „Submerged“ in space - and that’s how the final cut is sounding on this excellent EP. Pleased with powerful and epic vibes, bon voyage!
