Ahead of the first Off-Kilter all night long event in Bristol this Saturday, 007 Off-Kilter submission comes from Netherlands DJ and producer Tala Drum Corps.

Tijmen Lohmeijer aka Tala Drum Crops has many strings to his bow - two killer releases on The Hague based imprint BAKK, the Rites of Harvest show at Stranded FM and his most recent venture into interdisciplinary performance/composition. 

Fusing together elements from the cavernous chambers of wave, experimental techno and leftfield club, the Utrecht based artist intricately weaves oddball rhythms, textures and astray melodies to create his own sonic dialogue.

Recorded on 03/12/2022 as part of @strandedfm 's festive 75 hour marathon celebrating 7,5 years of broadcasting.

A mix dedicated to game soundtracks, ranging from ambient-ish to clubby. Mostly N64 as this was my first console and apparently the thing that got me hooked on clubby tunes and playful sounddesign.

Episode number 52 is "hard-boiled" by an outstanding artist from the medieval city of Utrecht -  Tala Drum Corps. Being a creator in the field of audio and interaction design Tijmen combines many musical incarnations, including but not limited to his own tape experiments and the building of dub sirens and curation of Stranded FM. In his music and mixes, he gravitates more towards a chthonic palette including spooky dub, captivating and otherworldly percussions, mumblecore illbient, hypnotizing mermaid trance, mnemonic electro, Arrakis kraut and who knows what else! This mix was no exception, which makes me very happy as the curator of De Kat Memwa series! After listening to the mix for the first time, I was naturally sweating from the buzz!

I have been a long-time fan of the work of Tala Drum Corps, but for some reason, I was too shy to write for some time. When I finally overcame my shyness, we were very quickly able to meet in real life and hold an amazing joint dance event in Malmö. In short, it is a great happiness to find new friends and like-minded people through music!
