TĀLĀ & How To Dress Well - The One (TĀLĀ Version)

I’m constantly in awe of my daughter Atlas and  how quickly she is growing and learning each day so I used the Bandlab app to make a beat inspired by her, and the cute sounds she makes. 

Sometimes it’s every day life and the meaningful moments that spark my creativity.

Atlas Type Beat

I made Vanilla Dome back in 2013, when I was in my little bedroom studio. It was a cold winter in London, and I was just making ideas—not for any particular project, just making music because it was an outlet and something I loved doing.

I was massively inspired by old Timbaland beats and still had that love for the nostalgic feel of UK garage—the pitched and chopped-up vocals, the blend of live and digital sounds. I was also deep in my emo phase—sampling my own vocals and pairing them with moody chords.

This was before I really discovered what my sound was. I was on the verge of making what would become my first release, but at this point, I was just experimenting, figuring things out. There’s a period of time when you’re creating and discovering your sound, and it’s a magical time—you make without inhibitions or any perceived notions of what you should be making.

Listening back to these old demos, I love how curious and unafraid I was to explore sounds and structures, even if they weren’t the most typical. So I’m sharing this one now on SoundCloud—hope you enjoy it!"**

Vanilla Dome - The story behind the idea (voice note)

I made 5ambed back at Ealing Studios in around 2014. It was in the days when me and my friends would stay at the studio all night making beats. I would lose track of time and suddenly I was getting an Uber home at crazy hours.

You know those ones when you can’t think of the name for the riddem but it’s time to go home and get to 💤 so you get why we called it 5am bed 😅
