The story had a way of leading a person to a place they had no idea they wanted to go. 
And how could they? The place did not exist yet. The story was still making itself up.. Weaving together mountains between the mist, and imagining up an orca that could be ridden to collect the mail.

“I have mail?” the girl asked.
“It’s your story, you tell me,” replied the orca.
“I do,” she said. 
“I have been sent all the letters of the alphabet so this story can be anything I want it to be.”
“Thrilling,” he replied.
“That’s just one word,” she said with a wink.

Riding on the summer winds of the Storybook EP, Hoj and Lee Burridge’s Tale and Tone offers its first artist EP of the series for digital release. The EP showcases two mystifying tracks from illusive new artist Cornucopia. Each tune has been proven on some of the world’s finest dance-floors this season, becoming two of the most train-spotted and asked-about tunes from the budding concept label.

Cornucopia’s Letter for Poly brings a fluid lushness to the A-side, a track that’s been consistently driving crowds with the warmth of its impeccable percussion and distinct swing worldwide. It’s a song that washes over you with melodic embrace, a feeling that reigns true throughout the entire Storybook EP, but here Cornucopia has masterminded something to get lost in. 

Story of Us, holds up the release with an emotive and surprising journey. Rich pads and a keen sense of timing are woven together while the techno-influenced groove gets it moving like few can. 

Every element in “Story of Us” has been lovingly fostered, creating an immersive and artfully fresh sound. With this EP, it is clear that Cornucopia has a unique story to tell.

The girl wandered further into the story, and, like any tale it twisted what the girl knew to be one way, and turned it to be quite another.  Dark became darker. Waters rose higher. Too high. Too fast. 

Then through it she heard a stranger’s voice say “You know you can walk on this water, right?” 

“I can walk on water?” she said.

The stranger replied, “It’s your story, make it up.  Make it so.“ 

“Well, let’s walk then,’ said the girl. “Let’s get our feet wet.” And she beckoned the Mist to follow her so they could blaze a trail to the place where anything happens if you make it so. 

One might say that the title track off the Daso EP is the one that brought Tale and Tone into existence. Hoj and Lee Burridge had been talking about a label to showcase their wide range of sound, but it was when they heard Daso and Lutz - De Libbe featuring Arooj Aftab that they swung into action. It was a track that they had to sign, and the record label would have to follow.

Daso and Lutz - De Libbe featuring Arooj Aftab is unique in it’s beauty and mood. What the song does to a dance-floor is difficult to describe - somehow it brings everybody together. The reflective groove warms and washes over everyone, creating an intimate setting. And just as people have locked into it, the haunting vocal comes in like a wave. As Arooj’s vocal takes people away, the groove evolves and surprises, twisting and turning with perfectly engineered sonics and soundscapes that all complement each other in a way that is rare. 

Daso follows up De Libbe with Northmorph and Ly. The infectious grooves of each sweep through with trademark Daso sounds. Subtle melodies, expertly crafted percussion, atmospheres and soundscapes weave throughout. While Northmorph builds, Ly is patient. Both serve to keep dance-floors engaged and moving.

All in all, an inspired and inspiring package from Daso.

Daso & Lutz feat. Arooj Aftab - De Libbe

The next chapter in Tale and Tone’s growing illustrative catalog comes from Newman, the debut new alias of Stephan Delacotte. Although he is by no means new to the scene, Newman’s release marks a reincarnation of musical viability. With this fresh hold on life and creative output, Newman assembles a two-track EP for Lee Burridge and Hoj’s burgeoning imprint, further thickening the plot of Tale and Tone. 

The title track “The Earth and The Sky” juxtaposes an artful chop of a classic vocal sample across staggered synth stabs that toy with each other throughout. It’s this contrast of air and grit that results in the lucid effect that perfectly encapsulate the track’s title. It’s no wonder it has received constant praise from dancefloors across the world over the last year.

The second track of the EP, “A Walk in The Plains,” effortlessly furthers that same love affair of rhythm and space with the use of hand-drums underneath huge padded soundscapes. The pads breathe over the percussive bongo rhythms like a breeze floating over open grasslands.

While the first tune soars, the latter tune grounds, culminating in a unique and cunningly-crafted debut package from Newman.

Widely acclaimed British producer Dee Montero has delivered his rhythmic new Mandala EP, a club-ready release made up of 4 tracks, including ‘Apertura’ as well as ‘Mandala’, which features two special mixes.
“‘Mandala’ came about when I rediscovered a sample of a buddhist chant I recorded while stumbling upon a temple in Vietnam almost 10 years ago,” added Dee. “It’s one of those rare moments when you find a vocal that just fits the track effortlessly. ‘Apertura’ is inspired by those sunrise moments in the Black Rock desert during the first light at dawn.”
