Synthium, the latest EP from HelenA MArkos, the creative force behind the imprint/blog Tales of Psychofonia, marks a significant milestone in her musical journey. Following a series of releases across notable labels like SOIL and FERMA, HelenA presents her newest artistic endeavour through Tales of Psychofonia. In this captivating six-track EP, she showcases her intricate experimentation with sounds, textures, and vocals, culminating in a special auditory experience.

Adding a unique twist to this musical tapestry are the dynamic remixers who have lent their exceptional talents to the project. The London-based artist Void Cells and the Berlin-based producer Secondary Drive have skillfully reimagined HelenA’s original work, infusing it with their own signature styles and adding new dimensions to the tracks. Their contributions elevate the EP to a whole new level, enhancing the sonic landscape envisioned by HelenA.

Described by the artist herself as “just a pill against pain,” Synthium embodies a blend of emotion, innovation, and experimentation that crosses musical genres. It serves as a testament to HelenA’s creative process, inviting listeners on a transformative journey through sound.

Synthium EP - HelenA MArkos [Tales of Psychofonia]

In Greek mythology, Deimos is the personification of fear and panic in battles, and twin brother of Phobos who represented fear. Together, they accompanied the god of war in every fight.

It’s taken 6 years for ‘Phobos’ to meet ‘Deimos’ musically. The label believes that it couldn’t have been a more representative moment of what they needed to express, due to the uncertainty and confusion we are living. With this work, they explore the somber feelings and existential conflicts that take hold of us in these difficult times, sometimes in contrast with the need for struggle and survival.

This magnificent EP, under the stamp of the Barcelona label Urban Legend records, includes four enfolding tracks by Lair and Wará, full of shadows and dark voices, that will take you on an inner journey to the deepest within you. The EP is enriched by two extremely powerful remixes, full of demonic rhythms and underworld atmospheres, created by Sam KDC and NX1.


Today, we present the excellent remix of 'Badb', by the Barcelona-based duo NX1. The remix is a slow, dark techno track, with its eerie synth and vocals filled with agony, accompanying  the heavily distorted drums that gradually lure the listener into a state of mental anaesthesia.

Műhely is a label from Budapest, run by Adam Krasz, Normal Tamas, and Obwigszyh who been committed to driving the local scene with its emblematic rave parties, nights of euphoria, dance and sweat.

'VA2 - The Dig' represents the soundscape of Műhely’s previous releases so far. It's a constantly pulsating, hypnotic and industrial material, which focuses on the harder side of techno. The VA contains tracks produced by Műhely's inner and outer circle, their friends.

Műhely means workshop in Hungarian and 'VA2 - The Dig' reflects their industrial attitude to music and creation. That's why the compilation will be published on 1st of May, which is the day of celebrating work in Hungary. It'll be released on a limited series of cassettes and digitally.

From this release we premiere the track 'Dazwischen' by the Berlin-based Hybral. A track that develops as a fire ball, violently carrying away everything that appears on its way.  Fast-pace, driving techno with a vibrant, uplifting and cathartic atmosphere; the perfect prelude for the nights to come and that we have been longing for, for so long.

People flooding the streets across Colombia have faced brutal crackdowns from police, fuelling demonstrators rage and adding police brutality to their list of grievances. Human rights groups have alleged abuses such as indiscriminate beatings, killings, and sexual violence. The Greek record label Dystatik is back with a bounce EP from a Colombian artist named Damaged Clock. People flooding the streets across Colombia have faced brutal crackdowns from police, fuelling demonstrators rage and adding police brutality to their list of grievances. Human rights groups have alleged abuses such as indiscriminate beatings, killings, and sexual violence. The police in the country has documented police brutality and violence, and police caused deaths; this is the Critical Country.

We premiere the track 'La Voz del Diablo', a slowly evolving EBM delirium with evil vocals and a torturous baseline creating abyssal sensations and a triggering, atmospherical break interrupted by an overwhelmingly intense kick drum.

Ferma is a record label from Athens and has repeatedly called our attention recently; they are coming back with their sixth release, a new addition to the label's catalogue and featuring a Various Artist compilation under the title 'Roll the Bones'. Dublin - based producer Billy Spike Iland drops his debut EP on CommonSense Records with a variety of deep, atmospheric, mental, trippy and driving Techno under the “Access Automation” EP. Four original tracks that combine futuristic sci-fi elements dominate the sound design for an experimental journey. Each track has its particular sound suitable for different vibes and momentums, weapons for a diversity of contexts. To concrete this project, the Portuguese producer A Thousand Details created two interpretations of the track 'Mechanism', which can only be described as mental trippy bangers most suitable for dance floors. The trilogy encompasses the versatile spectrum of the artist's musical style within the realm of edgy and dark electronic sounds. Aphasia EP is also enriched by a powerful remix created by Void Cells (Blind Allies). 
The three artworks of this trilogy are part of an artistic project made by the photographer Alejandra Vacuii.

‘Astalar’ is the new EP of the Spanish label Urban Legend records, created by REKA and /Beyond/. Four powerful tracks express the unique energy of the two artists in this avant-garde release. It is a tribute to our
planet’s stunning beauty and attention call for human beings to acknowledge that we owe everything to Nature, even our very existence. Delivered through first-rate electronic sounds, it is a painful realisation that we risk losing everything. The versatile outcome of this collaboration represents the fusion of the
broad musical influences of the two artists.

Today we premiere the track ‘Mil Espinas', which is a slow electro introduction to the EP, inspired by the wildflower teasel (Astalar in ancient Spanish); a sonic representation of its beauty and harshness, like life itself. Reka and /Beyond/ created 'Astalar', somewhere in the magical countryside of Tarragona, Spain, surrounded by a cheeky cat, two super cute dogs and a wonderful human being. Teresa Espadafor is not only the author of the beautiful images that became central to the record's concept. She has also been an essential element for its realisation, with her valuable contribution and exceptional energy.

Abiogenesis is a humanitarian compilation for Colombia, curated by the label Granular Spectrum.

With their previous release Raices they carried out a campaign to support a foundation who helps children. They  managed to fundraise  1,200 USD for  the Children of Bajo Baudó in the Chocó, a region in Colombia. In that compilation they brought together more than 40 artists from around the world.


Abiogenesis compilation is their new initiative with the purpose to continue helping the immense number of children who do not have a decent life due to lack of help from governments and who today live in extreme poverty. 

'With this new album we want to help the populations of "La Guajira", another of the regions forgotten by the government and, together with Chocó, one of the poorest departments in Colombia. With this new album we also want to help intercontinental migrant children and families who undertake the dangerous journey in the community of Necoclí, department of Antioquia, Colombia, seeking to contribute to the protection and care of affected people from trafficking.

We chose to premiere the track 'Ways and Means' by JK Flesh,  Broadrick's industrial, techno witchcraft with a schizoid baseline with disorientating frequencies.

We have recently featured material from the Barcelona-based label Urban Legend records and today we are visiting their catalogue again. A new release on the label has called our attention. This time by Granite Mask.

Granite Mask is a producer and DJ based in Los Angeles, California, active since 2012, with releases on Opal Tapes and Nostilevo. 2022 sees new releases on Urban Legend and tracks for various compilations in the style of his live hardware sets, without any process and stripped. Also, he is a new resident of Athen’s Fade Radio, curating a monthly show.


Granite Mask lands on Urban Legend Records with their new EP 'Before the Storm'. 
The EP created during the heavy and dark days of the COVID -19 pandemic. Making this EP became a way to see the light at the end of the tunnel during these dark times, a survival mechanism, a vehicle for creativity and reconnection with oneself. At the core of this work is the idea of ​​focusing on what we are passionate about and adapting to difficult situations.

‘Before the Storm’ consists of four very energetic and edgy tracks, with lo-fi and industrial textures, broken beats and provocative synth lines. The result illustrates the contrast between the struggle of external conditions and the inner peace generated by music and artistic expression.

Integration is the first musical contribution to her label, but it is also her debut as a producer. Integration is a four-track EP featuring three original tracks and a remix by Irish artist LAIR. The EP is the result of a long process that started at the beginning of the 2020 pandemic. 

'Integration' reflects the process of integrating repressed or forgotten elements of the self—a drums-focused track with the artist's vocals creating an atmosphere of determination. The track 'Angels' is a reference and a tribute to the Greek author N. Kazantzakis. 'The angels have a mouth but do not talk; they speak to God through dancing.’ A synth-driven piece with a magnetic intensity, resembling an imaginary angelical dance; Angels as the elements that protect us when things seem uncertain and scary. 'Endlessly Submissive' is a bass-led track, capturing the agony of the slow days during difficult times. It becomes a representation of painful realisations around the self and the world. Insisting vocals keep repeating: 'Endlessly submissive to the misery imposed by your shadows.' Finally, LAIR's cathartic remix of 'Angels' honours the original's vocals, surrounding them with an incredibly imposing aura of emotive synth pads magically created by the artist. Colorado based DVS NME debuts on the Greek label Tiger Weeds with a solo EP, delivering his signature sound with four straightforward Electro cuts.

DVS NME is an Electro music producer/dj and Post-Punk enthusiast who has been producing music since 2000. He has collaborated with the likes of Franck Kartell, Das Muster, MetaComplex, Koova, Faceless Mind, Komarken Electronics, Deemphasis, and more.

DVS NME also runs a daily blog called Dark Science Electro which features news, live sets, guest mixes, upcoming shows, and throwbacks, as well as a weekly podcast that publishes every Friday on Soundcloud.

From this release, we chose to premiere the track 'Class Conflict': Cybernetic melodies travelling through bending strings and modulated atmospheres.

Today's premiere is 'Crawling Chaos', a piece from the upcoming Kindcrime release, under the title 'Oblivious Tapes'. The track is an audio mayhem, filled with rage and noisy resistance. 

The Berlin-based label, presents its second of their series of split EPs melting in the furnace of the underworld like molten metal when struck by a thousand hammers. "Oblivious Tapes" is assembled by two industrial techno master blacksmiths. In fact DSTM is the faceless fighter capable of unleashing the perfect equilibrium between punchy kicks, functional hats and high-temperature rave stabs, while hostile forger 14anger exposes the scheme through his distorted rhythms, poignant subs and, especially for this plot, percussions sequenced like lava.

Renowned artist In Aeternam Vale takes us on a journey through time with the release of his upcoming EP, "Gamma Gamma Hey!” on the Barcelona-based label Urban Legend Records. Drawing inspiration from a tumultuous past marked by the looming threats of the Cold War, the Berlin Wall, and the specter of atomic warfare, the artist weaves a sonic narrative that serves as both a cautionary tale and a call to action. Through its poignant vocals and evocative melodies, "Gamma Gamma Hey!” explores the darker aspects of human nature, particularly our tendency to self-destruct through the manipulation of our environment and the creation of harmful chemicals. 
In Aeternam Vale highlights the need for introspection and accountability, urging listeners to confront the consequences of our actions and strive towards a better world for future generations. 

Today we premiere the track "Seven Nine" ; with a more sinister vibe and a cheating atmosphere, intensified by a racing kick-drum. 

In reflecting on the themes of the EP, In Aeternam Vale shares, "I am uncertain about the story I wish to convey. I feel that the world was a more dangerous place when I was young, with the Cold War looming, the Berlin Wall standing tall, and the threat of nuclear weapons hanging over us.

Today’s premiere is one of the tracks included in the upcoming  “LNDN” EP by the Italian artist Giovanni D’ Auria, on Aesir records. Dark, passionate and torturing EBM at its best. “34nh” is delirium and a constant tormenting beating. Disfigured sci-fi vocals, coming from a humanoid condemned to the infinite wandering. A slow destruction of all our filthy misconceptions.

Premiere: Giovanni D'Auria - 34nh (AE016)

Today we premiere the track "Inimicus" by Atsushi Izumi. The Osaka native has a background in music and sound design and as such found his sound going through a metamorphosis from Drum n Bass to a more experimental sound. 

Atsushi Izumi’s use of long drawn out hallow synths is like an ominous cemetery at night before these powerful percussions detonate in. He uses heavy spaced out bass drums, either as a single or double beat, which simmer as they echo and roll. They are surrounded by these chaotic, textured synths, which can sound like a cicada, hovering and distorted to give a mechanical effect. It feels like being thrown into the woods late at night, eerie yet calm in the beginning, before extreme panic sets in and you feel like you’re being chased.

Japan witnessed the end of the world up close and it is still reflected in their art and music: it delves into the sadistic and explores deep themes of melancholy and the apocalypse. This is juxtaposed against pure joy and serenity, showing that life is there to be enjoyed and struggles have an end, which is translated quite coherently to this piece.

The release will also contains a scintillating remix from ANFS. The Greek adds a bit of pace to the track "Zeit". He is an artist who enjoys frantic distorted techno and it shows in this cut.

‘Verdigris’ is due for release on 17th May 2019 under the mysterious Swiss label Thrènes, that is known for eye-catching signature artwork and a deep and dark techno sound.

"Inimicus" is a teaser for the dubious future, a sonic representation of blind soldiers armed with broken beats, facilitating the gradual rolling towards the lower levels of the human existence. This track, with its powerful dark structure, is slowly taking you to an apocalyptic ceremonial trip towards the roots of our primal scream, where the oneness gets activated and the psyche starts elevating. Inimicus is a mental bridge and once on it, you endlessly wig-wag between the two ends; the saturated modern life and the timeless need for connection.

Today we are excited to premiere the track 'Are You Afraid' by Years of Denial, included in the release. A powerful synth line and a heavy kick punished by the imposing and heart- shaking voice of Barkosina,  bringing to mind empty streets, filled with scared and broken humans. 

Caring in Bristol statement:

We need your support more than ever because whilst you are in the relative safety of your home, isolated and protected, those experiencing homelessness are at great risk and extremely vulnerable.

This is perhaps one of the most important letters that I have ever had to write. We are in unprecedented times with the COVID-19 pandemic having a profound effect on everyone and all the things we take for granted. Like a home to call our own, a sofa to put our feet up on, friends and family.

The team at Caring in Bristol are working at maximum capacity to help avert a catastrophe for vulnerable people in our community. Our services are adapting and changing in the face of continual uncertainty, but we are keeping the needs of those without homes and a safety net at the very front of what we do with their needs more exposed than ever before.

Services in Bristol have become strained, some to the point of closure but Caring in Bristol remain committed to being there for our city’s most vulnerable and we will do whatever we can to ensure those people who need our support get it.

A year has passed since Cyan85 first graced the VOITAX catalogue with his successful summer debut EP – 'Bay Of Sampieri'. Objector Trax, a DJ from Tbilisi, now based in Berlin, is the man responsible for the upcoming DVNTT release. His EP ‘Damdev’ contains 4 tracks featuring Icon aka Lilith. and Jan Soto. In his track “Let the bodies hit the floor” he used acapella from Drowing Pool’s track ‘Bodies’. The artist on his own words says about this track: ‘I used to listen to this track when I was a child and it reminds me of that time, the emotions, the desires that I had then. In short it is a nostalgic one.’ A track with a heavy kick, teasing changes with the bpm and a sensual snare, leading to an endless, erotic-like frenzy.

The first release 'No Contact' is a cassette that includes 11 tracks, and documents the last nine years of live actions from O/H, the duo of David Foster (Huren, Teste, etc.) and Rich Oddie with recordings from performances in Japan, Russia, Holland, and Canada. Ekstasis will be releasing music from the various projects that Rich is involved in as well as music from friends around the world.
Today we premiere the track 'Worthless Scam', an evolving explosion led by angry and muddy vocals, with a heavy kick teased by reckless synth pads. An erotic misunderstanding developing into a wild sexual encounter. 'Worthless scam' evokes a range of extreme emotions, rising through emotive distortions and industrial interferences; breaking the rules, redefining the truth.

Sweden's Grindvik and Argentina's Juan Pablo Pfirter found each other throughout their common love for electronic music and constant strive to evolve artistically.
Since Pfirter's first vinyl release on Grindvik's Stockholm LTD label in 2008 the two have kept a tight working relationship and shared countless of hours playing back to back DJ sets in some of the world's most famous clubs.
Pfirter and Grindvik's highly regarded 'El Fortin EP' was released on Leyla Records at the beginning of 2020 and now it's time for its long-awaited sequel, this time on Pfirter's own MindTrip label. 'Dopamin' is not just a full fledged techno four tracker, It's a search for a sound in common, a connection and a breeze of timeless joy.

Today, we premiere the track 'Eye Glare' included in the release. A cunningly evolving techno grenade, ready to explode and manipulate the dance floor. A soundtrack of a mind battle, dominated by a military kick and aggressive hi hats, on the verge of recovering the lost connection.

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new track from Secondary Drive. “Terminal 5” comes off the Berlin-based artist’s debut EP, Dementia, which is also the first release from the great Bristol platform, Tales of Psychofonia. This is the first chapter of a trilogy, inspired by neuropsychological conditions and their impact on our memory, sensory-motor skills, behavior and consequent understanding of the world. Dementia is an excellent 4-track digital EP which also contains a great remix of the title track by Greek artist 3.14 (Pi Electronics). The track 'Dementia' is an noir, electro meandering,  emerging through a melancholic synth pad, embraced by a roaring bass line. Blurry memories, leading to a doubtful reconstruction of reality.
