Deniro, real name Reynier, has been working his way onto the collective radar of late with a raft of releases under Tape Records and more recently Nina Kraviz’s трип. You’ll find traces of him everywhere from your favourite DJ’s set to the name ‘Dekmantel’ (he came up with it). His praxis takes dubby and high-tempo form, something analogous to 90s Detroit, conjuring up a flurry of cascading kicks and phantom beeps now second nature. Here, Reynier weaves together only his own hallmark tracks and as yet unreleased works for Bassiani Podcast 113, a spellbinding two-hour mix by one of Holland’s finest acts.

Quelza @ Tresor Berlin 10.06.2022 I 5 Hours Closing

Camila Milieme has been playing techno long enough to experience a few of its boom-and-bust cycles. Starting off in Brazil in the late '90s with the kind of rippling, tooly techno you'd expect from that era, Milieme lost interest once things started going minimal and took a break from techno to take up studying instead. By the time she checked back in, the genre had taken a turn closer to the stuff she used to play, so she packed up her bags and moved to Berlin, where she's become an indispensable part of the techno scene. 

As The Lady Machine, Milieme has released on Mote-Evolver and also runs her own label, Unterwegs, with UK producer Decka. As you'll hear on her RA Podcast, she prefers a classicist (yet, still, modern) style of techno that mixes toughness with texture and detail. With plenty of unreleased tracks from her cohort and tracks from British Murder Boys, Jeff Mills, Dave Clark and Christian Wunsch, this is a timeless techno mix for heads from any generation, from the '90s to the '20s.

Over the years, @quelza has made a name for himself, releasing music on labels like Mord, Palinoia, 47 and Hayes Collective, each pushing an unorthodox crystal clarity and cinematic sound design that has become his signature as an artist. Championing layered techno wares laced with a breaksy, IDM-informed touch that packs a punch, the Frenchman keeps on carving out a truly distinctive, shape-shifting universe, switching scopes and angles as he ups the rhythmic pressure.

This maturity is also reflected in his sets, and this podcast is a clear testament of that. He says "I wanted this podcast to be a slow, burning progression of weirdness and solar intensity, gradually building tension not in the speed of the piece but rather in the textural aspect. This is usually how I like to start my sets: by letting the track breathe and evolve before releasing the intensity once the audience and I are acclimatised to the aesthetics and dynamics of the track selection and the venue.”

At the controls of this week's RYC transmission is a DJ we particularly look up to. Hailing out of Leipzig, Unitas Multiplex chief exec Vincent Neumann is the epitome of a skilled jockey, clinical on the momentum and transition but by no means standoffish or emotionless. Far from that, his sets deploy the most infectious arsenal of incendiary wares, spanning the whole spectrum of electronics with panache and poise. Psychotherapist by trade, Neumann's acute understanding of the dancer's psyche sure shines bright through this helluva hectic treat. To those who've been lucky enough to attend one of his seminal ten-hour sets this will ring a most emotional bell, to those who're yet to experience it, we're certain the present mix will offer an ideal point of entry into his ever-tasteful selections and supreme knack for groove manipulation. This mix was recorded live from Reaktor's Katharsis event in 2017.  For those that don't know, Katharsis happens once a year and is dedicated to the faster, harder and more industrial side of techno.  This was my entire 3 hour set from that night.

Over the last few years we have built a steady relationship doing events together and sharing our passion for this music.  We are teaming up once again for ADE 2018 and releasing this mix as a thank you to all our followers and supporters.

Talismann at Katharsis 2019

Talismann (@talismannrecords) is the techno alias of the Dutch house artist Makam. Under this name he makes dark, dubby, wormhole techno that is designed for dance floor meditation, and he exclusively serves it up on his own self titled label. The man behind the music stays in the shadows, and while his output is often heavy and doom laden, it is also alluring mysterious and atmospheric in a way that is never too oppressive.

Today we're treated to a special mix filled with up-to-now unreleased tracks from Talismann's forthcoming, multi-part album 'Percussion'. Part 1 lands today on Bandcamp, however, with more to follow later in summer. Hearing all this material together in a mix, as the artist indeed, is a special treat which makes for a perfectly sequenced trip through empty industrial spaces, thronging warehouses and alien planets. It is hugely rhythmic, compelling techno, but is finished with a subtle sense of sound design that makes it as cerebral as it is physical.
