"Fireworks”, is a cover of The Tragically Hip’s 1998 hit about love, hockey and nostalgia. All proceeds from the song will be donated to the Gord Downie Fund for Brain Cancer Research, established last year by the Hip’s lead singer after he revealed his own brain cancer diagnosis.

The song: Aside from being a great, catchy song, “Fireworks” is a bittersweet meditation on shared Canadian nostalgia, even more relevant now as we figure out how to reflect on 150 years of Confederation.

The cause: The Sunnybrook Foundation’s Gord Downie Fund for Brain Cancer Research (https://donate.sunnybrook.ca/braincancerresearch) helps researchers find new drugs, surgical techniques and genetic therapies to help beat brain cancers that are currently unbeatable. April also marks the 60th anniversary of Daffodil Month in Canada, so there is no better time to join the effort to save lives and support people living with cancer.
