   After toying with such band names as Kids With Outsize Ids, The Infamous Reno Brothers, Nattering Nabobs, The Waxahachie Weed-Whackers, and Furry Megafauna, we finally settled on Tall Poppies- and in retrospect, I’m glad we did so.
   
   We named ourselves “Tall Poppies” in honor of those individuals who get out way ahead of something and are, at best, marginalized by a society still stuck in the past and blinded to the possibilities. It’s the old story of the nail that sticks out and goes against the grain only to get hammered down time and time again.
   The California Poppy (Eschscholzia californica) happens also to be the state flower of our much-beloved adopted home, California.
