"Heart's Mirage" serves as the endurance portion of one of the most prominent dreams we have--the dream of finding love. It's a love song to the figment of your imagination that gives you hope that one day, surely one day, you'll find what you're looking for. On a more personal note, this song was incredibly cathartic for me, as I wrote it after staring out the window past my piano, envisioning Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice stalking across the front lawn. I wondered why I felt this longing...and then this song was born.

This song is trying to swing its way to closure: does he love me or does he not? I don't know about you, but that question is an inner battle to me LOL

The antithesis of "Anomaly," this reprise resonates in B flat, voicing the fears I personally have had, and I know many have had with me. 
Am I really that odd? 
That strange? 
That...individual?
And am I being left behind?

Anomaly (Reprise)

"Individual" is a statement of personal freedom: this is who I am, like it or not. Empowering, yes, but I wanted to acknowledge the isolation or to put it dramatically, persecution, that can result from such a declaration.

"Pure Imagination" is one of my favorite songs ever written and an utter privilege to be able to record. Simplistic yet dramatic, I wanted this cover to illicit the tremors of nostalgia that naturally accompany this song. But there's a deeper undercurrent, a trepidation, an anticipation of what could be around the bend.
This was the perfect way to begin an album about dreaming in early adulthood, when there are no guidelines from universities, parents or government bodies.
When it's just you and a spark and everything that built you.

This one was very difficult to produce, but super fun once I figured out how to make it work. The time changes (or, stealing of time, if you will) needed to feel as natural as possible while still being noticeably delightful. 

"Stealin' Time" was the perfect choice to end the Pure Imagination album because it's usually time constraints placed on us by society that causes us to give up on dreams, or drift away from them. 
But truthfully, dreams are not constrained by time, and neither is God. I implore you to enjoy each present moment, milking it for everything it's worth, wearing gratitude like your favorite sunglasses, because when the dream comes true, you'll want to have enjoyed the journey.

"Tonedeaf" is a song I've wanted to write for a while. I mean, the irony, come on. But I wasn't sure what exactly it should be about.

Then 2020 happened and it became all too clear LOL.

So, this is what I've wanted to say to *certain* people who have lost all decorum in the current era we live in. I hope it empowers fellow introverts to speak their minds.

Swathed in metaphors, this song is basically just about second guessing the choices you've made in life. Wondering if it was worth it and all that.

This song is not meant to be listened to by itself. Ultimately, I hope it provides you a moment of acknowledging loneliness, pain, disappointment, disillusionment, whilst still continuing to sing a song of hope.

In memory of my beloved grandmother, who passed April 5, 2025, and lived spectacularly and fully. Let her be an inspiration to us all.
