We are really grateful  to host another multicultural  podcast from Pale Penguin, co-funder of the fantastic label @shango-records. Let's jump with him in this beautiful storytelling around the earth.

Pale Penguin is one of the key figures in Greek electronic scene. Based in Thessaloniki, Greece, he’s been djing for almost 25 years now. Since early 2007, he has launched and manages V.I.M. (Very Important Music) Records, releasing quality Breaks, Tech-House, Electronica singles and albums by many International and Greek artists. In the beginning of 2011 he has started the Afrotropical parties/events DISCOTECA INTERNACIONAL with great success till today, while together with Stama (ERASE RECORDS owner) he has launched DIABLO LOCO RECORDS, a label inspired by traditional Mexican wrestling and the famous Luchadores, specialized in top quality Tech-Breaks/Tech-Funk releases. At the beginning of 2013 he has launched another quality label
called DEEP GARNET RECORDS, a label focusing on the deeper side of
Breaks with Deep and Futuristic breaks monthly releases and in 2014 he
launched the Booty-Breaks label FANTOMAS RECORDS focused mainly on the Booty-Bass sound! In the beginning of 2015 together with Larry SKG and Forgivmi launched the highly successful Electronic Afrotropical label SHANGO RECORDS. This amazing label invites you to an unheard world music psychedelic trip: like through a colouful kaleidoscope we will melt down Indian and Pakistani Vibes, Arab-Tek and Oriental Grooves, Afro-Beat rhythms n' pieces, Cumbia Tropicana flavors and cosmic Ghetto-Latin vibes into forbidden sounds of frenzied electronic dancefloor rituals. Outside traditional paths these driving grooves and polyphonic structures take the adventure seeking dancer to Dionysian highs and places never been before.

Thanks for finding the second mix in the series of ‘In-Too-Deep’ .  This one travels from my great friend Perry, residing somewhere in deepest Guatemala, to myself in a little studio in wonderful leafy Surrey in the UK…  then departs once again back to Guatemala.. so is a mix of three halves !

I remember back to 2016 when I first started really getting in to the downtempo scene and the wonderful community following and partaking in it, there were a bunch of DJ’s and producers that really stood out.  It was them that inadvertently guided me into the resurrection of my own DJ’ing career 😊
One of those DJ’s was Perry.  I remember hearing one of his sets and it just blowing me away.., from then on I became an avid follower listening to everything he released.., and still do.

It is such an honor for me to take part in this collaboration with Perry, in fact it feels a little surreal.. and I certainly hugely enjoyed the experience.

So.. as with the previous mix in this series,  we have attempted to create a coherent set as if we standing side by side in a venue.. although we have possibly made this one unique in that Perry has taken care of the first and third parts, with myself doing the middle section.  Again, if were to be successful in our venture – the whole thing would hopefully sound seamless !

Inspired by folkloric multiculturalism, he loves to experiment with the traditions of world music and knows how to transfer it into a modern perspective to brew an electronic-music-elixir with that extra drop of mescal flavour. The rāga saga is a series that acts as a cultural collectiva of our favourite artists from all over, Each raga is an array of melodic structures with musical motifs, considered in the Indian tradition to have the ability to "colour the mind" and affect the emotions of the audience and this journey (raga) comes from a saint of his own accord, Eyal Now aka @nowananda he's a master of deep meditative journeys and we are glad to have him with us today

Nowananda was inspired by growing up in a multi-cultural family, playing classical piano for 7 years, life-long dancing and music collecting, 20 years of traveling and an extensive study, practice, and teaching of yoga, tantra and body/energy work.

He weaves devotional, folk, tribal, organic and electronic music from around the world into dance journeys that invoke the mystic, the lover and the animal within us.
