Built quietly, at night - so as not to wake the babies, this indie dad-pop collaborative brings brothers Ike and Pete Morsch together with producer Luke Harper, and surrounds earnest songwriting with some sharp beats, then drapes the whole mess with sweet atmospherics. It’s anti-viral but hummable- whistle-able maybe even. It’s wise. It’s like buttered wheat toast with hunks of rock candy glued to it with marmalade, and just enough cream cheese to keep you going til break time. Listen in your car where your kids won’t find out about it. You can describe it to them later, and try to think of what it reminds you of so you can better contextualize it for them- but they wouldn’t understand anyways so what’s the point? You like it, and that should be good enough, right? Just calm down and turn it up. Chances are the words will apply to your life and that kick drum will remind you of when you used to really just dance. So do it.
