The Owls do not fly
They unhook gravity and let the air fall upward
Cities rise like startled pigeons
and are caught in our throats
We keep a parliament in the hollow of a dead clock
The hands spin counter-sunwise
Every hour we vote on which memory of yours to erase next
The motion always carries
There is no opposition
Only the echo that lost the argument
A child draws an owl on the wall
The crayon screams
The wall begins to blink
By morning the house has migrated three inches closer to the forest
The parents will not notice
They have already been replaced by polite silhouettes
We lay eggs of polished absence
When they hatch, a room forgets it ever had a door
People walk in circles until their shoes forget the concept of ground
