“I am originally from Houston Texas, I now live in Dallas and have been singing my whole life.   I started playing guitar in 2003 and wrote my first song in 2005”.

In Jan of this year, 2016, ASCAP recording artist Tami Hix released her 2nd CD, “The Sunflower Girl”. Tami’s new CD, “The Sunflower Girl” is the eagerly awaited follow up to her debut album “Tami Hix” which was released in Jan of 2011. Tami Hix grew up in Pasadena, Texas.   She became interested in singing at the early age of 6 years old. Growing up, Tami loved to play her favorite records and sing for her mother.   Tami would sing along with her favorite songs from Elvis, Dolly Parton, Barbara Mandrell and Crystal Gail.   She began singing in Choir in middle school and continued through her 1st year in college.   Tami picked up the guitar in 2003, self taught,  she wrote her first song in 2005.   It was in and around this time that Tami began studying the works of Bob Dylan, Etta James, Lucinda Williams, Mary Gauthier and Slaid Cleaves.

An artist herself, Tami’s Words are the colors she uses to paint songs of great emotional depth and melodic beauty.   Her songs are rich with a lyric imagery that is both deeply moving and very personal. Tami’s voice is powerful and delicate at the same time and her songs haunting and beautiful.   Through her music Tami portrays the happiness and the heartache she has experienced in her life.
