"Nytto Dread meets Bass Culture Players" nace de la mano de Santi Mijarra aka Puppa Shan (MAD) en el ritmo, y Nytto Dread (BCN) en las lírica. 

Reggae roots 100% en castellano y producido en la península, desde Discoinferno Studio. 

Con la participación de músicos e instrumentistas de bandas como Hotdrop, Emeterians, Forward Ever Band, Kinky Coocoo's y otros muchos participantes de la escena estatal, está inspirado en la época dorada del reggae jamaicano y británico de los 70's y 80's. En él encontramos ritmos pesados, vivos y rudos acompañados de líricas afiladas y directas de contenido social y espiritual. 

En formato showcase, este disco está compuesto por 5 cortes vocales, 5 dubs y una "extended version", como guiño a la cultura soundsystem, vienen envueltos en un colorista y fresco artwork que nos evoca al cartelismo afro-caribeño y a sus barberias únicas realizado por Lidiuska.

“Nytto Dread meets Bass Culture Players” is the fruit of a collaboration between Santi Mijarra (Madrid) providing backing tracks and Nytto Dread (Barcelona) on vocal and lyrics . 

Roots reggae music exclusively sung in spanish and produced in the peninsula at Disco Inferno Studios . 

The release features musicians and instrumentalists from bands such as Hotdrop , Emeterians, Forward Ever Band, Kinky Coocoo's as well as many others from the Spanish scene . It's main influence comes from the golden age of Jamaican and British reggae from the 70s and 80s. Rough , scathing , lively backing tracks that feature sharp , up-front lyrics that deal with social as well as spiritual themes. 

Released in a "showcase " format , this record carries five vocal versions , five dub versions and one "extended mix" as a tribute to the sound system culture . All of this being packaged and designed by Lidiuska in a fresh , colored style that brings to mind the afro-carribean tones and the unique barber shop imagery.

Anthony Johnson - Behold

The second release from THE MERCHANT RECORDS features the three vocalists AKAE BEKA, RAS HASSEN TI and IMAN plus one saxophone cut from SAMSON BENJI.
TAMRIN who produced and mixed the tracks was blessed with the opportunity to work with Akae Beka in late 2017. Since Midnite/Akae Beka are one of his greatest influences in music (and maybe life), no words can describe what an honour and blessing it is to become part of this musical legacy. The title “Principles“ was recorded on the “Earthman“ riddim which was named after the song IMAN and Tamrin used to perform with their former band. In 2018 Tamrin reached out to Ras Hassen Ti and sent him a selection of riddims. From this co-operation the tune “Earthmen“ emerged.
The basic Earthman riddim was mostly digitally produced in a raw version and then given to the singers. But right from the beginning Tamrin knew that this riddim needed some “real instruments“ to create the vibe he was looking for. So he linked some bredrins and recorded guitar (Junior Jew), drums (Niko Youngheart), percussion (Ras Andi) and organ/keys (Samson Benji). After the arrangement and recordings for the vocal cuts had been performed, Samson and Tamrin met in The Merchant Studio to add some final glamour with a couple of nice sax licks. It happened to become a magical night where the last tune called “Hornsman“ was born, a stunning one-take sax version.
Special thanks to Ras Moa (Jahsouljah/Collynization) who set the link to Tippy (I Grade) and opened the door for the collaboration with Akae Beka.
