2023 marks the 10th anniversary of Heist Recordings and as always, we kick off the year with our Round up where each artist of the last year remixes another artist. We’ve had an all-star cast in 2022 with Crackazat, Byron the Aquarius, Dam Swindle, Orlando Voorn, Nebraska and Makèz, so the anticipation for this year’s Round Up was huge. 

We’ve had Byron the Aquarius remix one of Dam Swindle’s ‘Keep on Swindling’ hits ‘Good Woman’ and turn that afro dancefloor monster into a typical deep and vibey affair that Byron does so well. Crackazat has taken Orlando Voorn’s wonky soul track ‘Be with you’ into a peak time summer anthem, while Nebraska has poured some of his boom-bap disco sauce on Byron the Aquarius classic spoken word song ‘Succes’ Makèz go for an uptempo version of Nebraska’s Chant des Oiseaux that lies somewhere between discofied house and gloriously upbeat tech-house. Dam Swindle take a disco-meets techno approach to Crackazat 2022 hit Demucha and Orlando Voorn turns ‘La grande folie’ by Makèz into a Midwest cosmic jazz jam.

Patrick started his carreer in the band of Sylvester in 1977. Sylvester plucked him out of a disco in San Francisco where Patrick was a light-jocky. Patrick played already synthesizers and when Sylvester asked him to play something for him he was instantly hooked to the Cowley sound....
Patrick Cowley did not forget his friend Sylvester when things did not go very well for Sylvester. So he wrote and produced this track (Do You Wanne Funk) for him and Sylvester became famous (again)....

For our next release, we revisit a track that’s really close to our heart. “We’ve had enough” is a story about social injustice in the world that we live in today. The new remix package includes mixes from Zepherin Saint and the Journeymen. 


Zepherin saint ‘s Super Fly mix is a nod to the Blaxploitation era, paying tribute to Curtis Mayfield and the like. Zepherin  Saint has pulled out all the stops on his mix ,incorporating live guitar, Bass, Rhodes, Flute, and Horns and a masterful arrangement that really brings the track to life.

The Journeymen offer us a more stripped down version that is perfect for the big rooms. Stomping beats and stabbing chords are the order of the day.
