Accomplished producer, Phil Kieran, makes his Hotflush debut with a two-track ode to hedonistic flight. “Yes I’m going there” goes the lead track’s refrain. Where ‘there’ is, who knows? But you can enjoy a soundtrack of sun-kissed piano chords and heraldic horns on the way. As Kieran ‘gets away’ on the A2, the mood takes a turn for the dark. Lost in the early hours, pockets full of miniature plastic bags and no money…thank fuck for the throb of that kick in these lonely but exciting times.

Richy Ahmed and Ryan Elliott, offer their interpretations of Kieran’s bacchanalia on the B-side with the former creating a barnstorm of minor stabs and attitude, and the latter tearing it up, down, left and right with his broken beats and wailing vox. Gone there. Got Away.

First released in 2007, Livio & Roby’s VIVa MUSiC debut “Ananda/Drumatik” [VIVA005] was met with critical acclaim from Mixmag and widespread support from the scene. 
The success of this EP and 2008’s “Speranta” LP [VIVA013] helped to spread Romanian duo’s unique musical blueprint throughout Europe, releasing their modern twist on house & techno on respected labels including Desolat, Moon Harbour, Cecille and Saved. 

Ananda’s dramatic vibes and deep grooves proved particularly popular with DJs and tastemakers, and was lauded as “a lush late-night workout that can sit comfortably early, mid or late set”. 

Recognised by many as their “home imprint”, Livio & Roby make a strong return to VIVa MUSiC with a slick 2014 Reinterpretation of the track, fresh and updated for the modern dancefloor. 

The package is completed with stellar remixes from Luca Bacchetti and Cesar Merveille. 

Luca’s “Endless Remix” is enchanting from start to finish - with soaring sweeps emotively interweaving with a driving and powerful groove, this is a truly exceptional piece of production. 
Cesar takes Ananda in a different direction, combining precise percussive elements and hypnotic synth runs to create a rolling yet relaxed vibe.

The people of Hamburg are associated with traits such as modesty and coolness. The same can be said about the music scene of Germany‘s second largest city: While there is a lot of buzz in the media about cre- atives being envious to the capital, the music scene, especially in the electronic fields, has been thriving here in the last few years. Hafendisko, the Hamburg based new sub label by hfn music, reknowned for their re- leases by Trentemøller and Kasper Bjørke, now puts an end to Hanseatic understatement: “hamburg elektronisch” is a new compilation series of awesome electronic beats from the river Elbe, the first installment focu- ses solely on House music. The 20 tracks of this download-only com- pilation, among which are three exclusives, not only feature old masters like DJ Koze and Lawrence, promising newcomers like Smallpeople und Wareika, but also showcase the most important melting pots of the Hamburg scene.
The new drive of the city is mostly accumulated in two spots: Smallville Records, the first of them, proves that the classic record store still can be of relevance, no matter how much discourse about releases and pro- ducers is now going on in digital networks. The store is small, but run with knowledge and passion. The people there not only curate their own Smallville parties all around the city, but also run an offspring store in Paris and several great labels: “Smallville” (featured here with tracks by Law- rence and Smallpeople), the vinyl-only imprint „Laid“ and, of course, „Dial Records“,the most-famous electronic label in Hamburg, because of its unique melancholic approach to techno music (check out Isolée on this compilation). On top of that, people who help there at the counter also run their labels like RvdS (whose “it’s”-platform is represented here with „A Walk On The Moon“) or book great parties like the “Dear” nights at the “Ego” club - the second epicentre in Hamburg at the moment.
With the “Ego” in the outskirts of the world famous Reeperbahn the city finally has a great techno club again, in addition to the „Baalsaal“ and „Neidklub“. Its owner Solomun also runs the booking agency and label “Diynamic” in the same building. The label already released nearly 50 records in quite a short time and thus is featured heavily here. Apart from Solomun check out Stimming, DJ Phono and H.O.S.H. The latter is also responsible for the ever-growing “Grünanlagen” Open Air parties who usually have an awesome line-up, although they are free.
Apart from other important concert venues like the „Uebel &amp; Gefähr- lich“ and all the nice bars of St. Pauli between the Reeperbahn and the Schanze quarter, at the end of the night the Hamburg scene still meets at the Golden Pudel Club at the harbour. Despite some difficulties it is still going strong and uncommercial after more then twenty years. Not only most of the artists mentioned before run parties here, but lots of the other labels in this collection as well like Liebe*Detail (Wareika, Lo- vebirds), Dérive (Christopher Rau) or Mirau (Tensnake). At the Pudel so many different people and music scenes engage in creative friction. This multitude of styles will be covered in future parts of this “Hamburg elektronisch” series that will also be released on CD. Cause hanseatic understatement is over.

With the backing of a legend like globetrotting Dutch DJ and producer Joris Voorn, it is only natural to expect a lot from Toronto-based producer Daniel Dubb's debut album. Luckily, Daniel delivers on those expectations, as Pieces of the Past is a thoughtful, forward-thinking take on modern dance music and has been touted as some of his most mature music to date. In advance of the release, lead single "Pound For Pound" got some early support and praise from a long list of world-renowned DJs including Nicole Moudaber, Tensnake, and James Zabiela.

Daniel Dubb is recognized as one of Canada’s most exciting underground house artists, and the album, as Daniel tells it, has been influenced by some of the most meaningful moments of his past, which is easy to feel with the emotional journey this full length album delivers. The next release on Matt Tolfrey’s Leftroom enters realms of deep, melodic, warm grooves,
with five tracks from various artists that follow the special edge the label have crafted.
There is no question that this EP will inflict an overwhelming desire to dance all day long in
the sun. However, throughout there’s a solid dance floor groove exploring darker elements
with full driving bass lines that contrast flawlessly with the warmer pads and smooth classic
house sounds.

‘Don’t Undastand’ by blossoming duo Huxley and Russo screams sun drenched ecstasy
with its classic house vocal tinged with Balearic spirit. Tranquil keys consume you in a
hypnotic wave, but don’t be fooled, this is a solid deep house groove and has a real raw
kick that steers the track over old school strings and warm synths.

Next up, ‘It Ain’t over Yet’ sees the collaboration between main man Matt Tolfrey and
exciting talent Maher Daniel. This modernly twisted track is designed to make you move,
as the duo create a true “injection of music” as heard by the male voice that travels over
warbling keys and a smooth warm groove.
Gavin Herlihy allows his production skill to speak for itself and his contribution to this EP is no
let down after prior releases on top labels such as Cocoon and Cadenza. ‘With Me’ is
squarely aimed at the dance floor with an array of quirky electronic sounds and vocals
that add new dimensions to the warm pads and rounded bass that drive the track.
‘Tromaville Rocks’ comes from Spanish born Julian Perez and delves into the sensuous side.

The deep, rounded, sexy sounds and enticing vocals that intertwine are sure to lock you in
a groove.

Finally, exciting young producer Jack Riley from Nottingham teaches us a lesson or two,
with his ‘Teach This’, a master class in playfully emotional piano house. With keys and
reverbs that add a distinctive heart-warming texture to the track, the forceful bass that
rolls at the bottom retains the solid dance floor pulse.

Leftroom consistently deliver the goods and this release is no exception. Full of deep
grooves and fresh standout talent, the EP has been getting early support from major
players at DC10 and Space throughout the summer. The ever-growing Leftroom family of
artists continues to epitomise the underground.

The Underwater years from 2002 and 2004 gave birth to the new Gusgus setup with Earth as the lead singer.  The involvement of Darren Emersons label manager and his successful selection off remixers for the hit "David" was important part of re-establishing this new lineup.  This was not the first interaction of the band with Darren Emerson and his label as the first release on his label was the track with Tworld, Anthem in 1994.  As some of you might know Tworld merged into Gusgus when the band was formed in 1995.  Here is one of these remixes of David, carefully remastered for you.

As the hotly tipped Laura Jones prepares to deliver her debut compilation for Leftroom’s brand new mix series, ‘Leftroom Presents...’, she drops a 3 track vinyl sampler of the exclusive remixes she curated for the compilation.

Debuting on Leftroom last year with ‘Intentions’, a track that created a huge stir, Jones has gone on to become a genuine artist to watch, with releases for Crosstown Rebels and Visionquest swiftly following. Employing the same deft touch and keen ear as with her studio work, Jones’ DJing has taken her across the globe, solidifying a formidable reputation.

Gavin Herlihy’s ‘C’mon People’ is the first track to be chosen for the remix treatment, with Visionquest’s Ryan Crosson being the artist tasked to deliver, and deliver he does. With the original track seeing support from everyone from Scuba to Groove Armada, ‘C’mon People’ is one of Leftroom’s biggest tracks and Crosson’s gleaming, futuristic and warped funk serves it brilliantly.

Herlihy features again with a remix of Matt Tolfrey & Maher Daniel’s ‘It Ain’t Over Yet’, a version where moog synths and all-encompassing bass takes centre stage, leaving the percussive elements to lazily ride a heady musical groove.

Finally, Jones’ own ‘Intentions’ track gets the remix treatment from Matt Tolfrey & Sam Russo. Sliding from broken beat into a sturdy 4:4 thump while continuously adding new tones and textures, it’s a mix that oozes the sort of trippy, Tyrant-esque sound that both Tolfrey and Russo are rightly close to.

A considered piece of A&R from Laura Jones and a fitting accompaniment to the ‘Leftroom Presents... Laura Jones’ compilation, this vinyl sampler is released 18th June 2012.
