A week ago we came across an email in our inbox with the subject: ‘Some Moody Shit’. Sure enough it was the next installment of the tangible sound podcast series coming from Sheffield’s very own Lo Shea. The first time we heard the sounds of Liam O’Shea was back in 2012. Our good Friend Marco had picked up one of his Seaghdha records and we’ve been hooked on his unique, deep and dubbed out rhythms ever since. 

For those of you who don’t know, Seaghdha was a vinyl-only imprint Lo Shea created to showcase his eclectic productions from 2012 through 2014. Each release was limited to 300 pieces of wax and gained vocal support from some of the most discerning selectors in the game such as Christopher Rau, Brawther, Mosca, Vince Watson & Darko Esser to name a few. In 2013 Lo Shea also opened the 100 Years label with two slabs of Techno which were inspired by sounds recorded at the Forgemasters Steelworks in Sheffield. Seaghdha & 100 Years have proven Lo Shea has vision, range & impeccable taste and after Phonica Records and Ripperton’s Tamed Musique commissioned him for their own labels, the request just keep pouring in. 

Residing in Sheffield, Lo Shea is the curator, resident and founder of Hope Works where he has played with everyone from Theo Parrish to Ben UFO and Levon Vincent to Pearson Sound. Upcoming events in the Hope Works warehouse include Rødhåd, Hodge, Funkineven, Greg Beato and an extended set from the Detroit pioneer Jeff Mills. Next month Lo Shea will also open the Hope Works record label and one of the tracks, “Capacity Creep” can be heard within this mix. 

With some exciting releases on the horizon, a fresh Live set readied for 2015 as well as a string of solid Dj gigs which include Panorama Bar on the 15th of November, Lo Shea is hitting the ground running…  

To our London crowd you can catch Lo Shea playing for Jaunt at basing house on the 11th of October. We’ll be there for sure... right up at the front.

La semaine dernière nous sommes tombés sur un mail avec comme objet ‘Some moody shit’. Il s’est avéré qu’il s’agissait du nouvel épisode de la série de podcasts tangible sound réalisé par nul autre que Lo Shea. C ‘est en 2012 que nous avons entendus pour la première fois les sons de Liam O’Shea. Notre bon ami Marco venait d’acheter un de ses disques sorti sur Seaghda et depuis nous sommes accro à ses rythmes profonds et uniques.

Pour ceux qui ne le savent pas, Seaghda était un label que Lo Shea a crée pour diffuser ses productions de 2012 à 2014. Chaque sortie était limitée à 300 exemplaires et ont  pris places dans les sets de DJs tels que Christopher Rau, Brawther, Mosca, Vince Watson & Darko Esser. En 2013 Lo Shea a aussi ouvert le label 100 Years avec deux morceaux de techno inspirés par des sons enregistrés dans l’aciérie de Sheffield. Seaghda et 100 Years on prouvé que Lo Shea possède un gout imprenable pour la musique, un visionnaire. Après que Phonica Records et Tamed Musique l’ont signé sur leurs labels, les requêtes n’ont fait que de se multiplier.

About six months ago one of the members of our crew picked up a white label vinyl with an A2 track that really blew up us away. The artist who composed the track went by the name ‘Lock Eyes’ and after seeking out the rest of his productions we instinctively knew this was an artist we wanted to keep our ears locked on.
As a resident DJ of White Jail, Lock Eyes has played far and wide across London’s underground and his infectious sound has caught the ears of established tastemakers such as Ben Sims, tINI and Luv Jam. His fluid style behind the decks has also seen him playing alongside Berghain/Panorama Bar resident Ryan Elliot and Swedish newcomers, Mr. Tophat & Art Alfie. Earlier this summer he was also booked for Offshoot; a new festival by Corsica Studios & Transition Lab in Puglia, Italy where he got to play with the one and only Move D! On 22nd November Lock Eyes will be sharing the decks with Chicago House living legend Boo Williams for an epic White Jail birthday party! You can expect tangible sound to be right up in the front for that one.
With some sweet releases secured for 2015 and some great bookings on the horizon, we are honoured to have Lock Eyes contribute the next episode of the tangible sound podcast series. Enjoy.

Il y a environ six mois un des membres du label a chopé un whitelabel avec un track qui nous a tous fait halluciner. L’artiste qui a composé l’EP s’appelait ‘Lock Eyes’ et après avoir chiné le reste de ses productions, on a instinctivement su que c’était un artiste que nous voulions voir d’avantage.
Etant DJ résident pour White Jail, Lock Eyes a joué dans les tout les recoins underground de Londres et ses sons infectieux ont attiré des DJs tels que Ben Sims, tINI et Luv Jam. Son style fluide derrière les platines lui a permis de jouer aux coté du résident du Berghain/Panorama Bar, Ryan Elliot, et du duo suedois Mr. Tophat & Art Alfie. Plus tôt cet été il a été programmé à Offshoot ; un nouveau festival organisé par Corsica Studios et Transition Lab à Puglia en Italie où il a pu jouer avec le seul et unique Move D! Le 22 Novembre, Lock Eyes partagera les platines avec la légende vivante de la Chicago House, Boo Williams pour la soirée d’anniversaire de White Jail !
