"The Treasure Tower" is a cinematic folk-rock journey that builds from a single acoustic guitar and vocal into a soaring, full-band spiritual experience.

Drawing inspiration from the epic imagery of the Lotus Sutra, the song tells the story of a profound revelation. It charts the journey from sitting on the "hard earth" as a humble seeker to witnessing the miraculous appearance of the great Stūpa—a tower of gold and lapis lazuli that shakes the ground and fills the air with celestial music.

But the true miracle isn't just the tower in the sky; it's the discovery of the "priceless gem" within.

Featuring a dynamic arrangement that moves from sparse folk to electric gospel-blues, the song's soaring slide guitar, rich Hammond organ, and thunderous percussion capture the awe of the moment. "The Treasure Tower" is a song about awakening—about realizing that the divine truth we seek outside is the same truth we've carried inside us all along.

Had tied a priceless jewel right inside of me

That gem of all-knowin' wisdom, I had... but I couldn't see
I was blind until this Tower... it set me free

Now I wear the robe of patience, and I stand up in the light
I'm no low-road disciple... I'm a Buddha in my own right.

the german word for despair is ‚verzweiflung‘ which has the word ‘zweifel’ (=doubt) at its core. this means that despair literally translates as ‘lost/entangled/caught up in doubts.’

etymologically, this can be explained by the loss of hope for improvement, i.e., doubt that something bad could turn out well in the foreseeable future.

one could philosophize at length about doubts. I guess this has already been done in heaps. especially since, beyond the torment of perceived hopelessness, doubts also have absolutely positive aspects. they are an essential part of intelligence and wisdom. just as their absence clearly indicates stupidity and arrogance (#dunning-kruger). so being smart always means agonizing over the question of whether you are actually smart.

apropos agonizing, a relatively tolerable form of despair undoubtedly goes hand in hand with the conflict between the desire for individual freedom and interpersonal bonds. can I translate that as the “have-your-cake-and-eat-it-too-dilemma”?

fortunately, I/we personally never had a problem with this, because I/we never experienced or felt our relationship as conflict of freedom and commitment. however, looking at the course of relationships in our son's generation, I get the feeling that there is a lot of turmoil at work. relationship stress and divorces all over the place. that fits with my album topic! 

here’s a song I wrote about 20 years ago with just the first line of the chorus and later released as a semi-instrumental on sc ages ago. now lyrics have been added (translation hopefully not too wordily phrased) – and with them vocals based on my guitar templates, where suno once again acted extremely annoying. the machine repeatedly tends to slip into hackneyed vocal patterns and that means having to start completely from scratch…

I have been reviewing some notes I made on the work I have done with Suno over the last 18 months or so. I happened to look at one of my Suno "personas", a duo I called "Just-in-Love", and could not find the original Suno file for this song. Panicking, I decided to try and improve on it by using V5 (the original was with V3.5) and of course my prompting skills have improved. Here is the result, I do hope you like it.

He sat, awakened, boundless 
Free of night and day

The storm of becoming

Desire’s long fever had 
Found its release
