Shamanism is an ancient religious tradition of Lake Baikal. The locals have always believed that the area is inhabited by spirits, which must necessarily appease sacrifices and perform special rituals. Shamans have always done this on Lake Baikal. According to legend, the first Baikal shaman received his gift on the island of Olkhon, at its northernmost point – on Cape Khoboy.

Shamanic rituals and rites are still carried out. No event on Lake Baikal takes place without the participation of a shaman. This is due to the belief that if you do not ask the spirits for permission, then the plan will fail.

Today is an amazing day as it marks our last day at home before we get on the road again. We love this day. Now that we got more accustomed with organising ourselves for the next travel the stress we used to feel before made way for excitement for what lies ahead and appreciation  for what you temporary leave behind.
