Bones has been a fixture at Night Bass since the beginning. The Gotta Dance Dirty co-founder is a ubiquitous presence in the Los Angeles underground and a resident at Exchange downtown. His debut mix for THUMP is an hour-long treatise on moody house tunes, the likes of which he'll be dropping when the Night Bass crew takes over Sound nightclub in Hollywood once again this Thursday. This week, Bones will be joined by Petey Clicks, Jubilee, Hotel Garuda, and AC Slater himself. 

The mix boasts a knowledge of house music history along with a deep-set collection of tunes from rising artists. The likes of S-Man and Sonny Fodera sit alongside the likes of Hotel Garuda and Bot with an effortless air. Elsewhere, Cassian, Breach, Jack Beats and Gorgon City make appearances.

The latter half of the '00s were a great time if you were a fan of electro, house music or any of the many iterations. It was around the time that Diplo was producing for M.I.A, Justice and Simian Mobile Disco reigned supreme, and Sinden was working with a North London producer called Joshua "Hervé​" Harvey as The Count & Sinden. Yes, dubstep's popularity was increasing exponentially, but we're talking about house music and it was still a pretty good time to rave if you weren't a fan of big, noisy bass music. To remind us just how fun house music (or fidget or electro house or whatever you want to call it) was back then, Hervé​'s put together this neat little retrospective. Just looking at the mix that Hervé put together for us and you'll see how many big tunes there were, and how many of them featured Hervé​ in some way. Even the remixes, which feature prominently were often the versions that took off, eclipsing the originals with Hervé​'s instinct for the dancefloor.

Enjoy this live recording of the Plump DJs (Grand Hotel Recordings) from the Space Cowboys' 13th annual Breakfast of Champions in San Francisco on New Year's Day. The Plumps were a surprise, unannounced addition to the line-up this year and to the delight of an unsuspecting crowd, they lit up the Funktion One stage as the sun was setting on yet another epic B.O.C. Plumps DJs are internationally renown UK DJ/Producer duo Andy Gardner and Lee Rous, whose passion for innovation and non-conformist attitude to electronic music has fuelled their fire for over a decade. Their unmistakeable signature sound has earned them recent remix commissions from the likes of Deadmau5, Mark Ronson, Moby and Orbital while their four deck live show has lead to countless international tours and shows at London's lead music venues XOYO, Fabric and the Nest.
