The Shining marked the reunion of J Dilla & BBE, who had released Welcome 2 Detroit, J Dilla’s debut album. Fans of each other's styles and wishing there would be a win for the underdog, they began recording songs under the name "Charlie Browns Field Goal". Charlie Brown's Field Goal was put on hiatus while Fresh & 8th went on to release a few solo projects before Fresh ventured into creating event series & record label Beat Haus and 8th pursued high education and earning a degree in English.
