@underthetrees-ofc is a fresh new label focussing on Indie Dance. It was brought to life by the people running @Tanzgemeinschaft magazine & records.

For the first release, we have Belgian talent Broos. He comes with a highly danceable 2-pack release called Tensile.

The first track “Khao San Road”, inspired by Moby’s Porcelain, is very much dancefloor-oriented and builds up some tension from the start. A catchy & joyous chunk of revivalist, synth-heavy groove.

The second track, “Occhiolism”, completes this EP. Leaning towards the eclectic side, with the vocal sample cuts and groovy synth punches this is a slice of good mood.

For our second release on Under The Trees, our Tanzgemeinschaft sub-label, we are moving to Mexico for two long-time friends that go under the moniker Dark Punk Hippies.

They have been exploring different styles, keeping time and place in mind. Now they join us with two certified dancefloor rollers. Guaranteed grooves that will make you move.

Desertic is a psychedelic disco electronic groove. Cheery & pulsating with the arpeggio-style bassline, heady lead lines and grandiose synth chords catch the ear.

Hungary-based SNYL, sure known for his own style, had his take on Desertic. Pumping the groove, adding his layer of style. Making it more lively. Deep boogie vibes with some dancefloor oomph and it for sure will inspire a few hands-in-the-air moments.

Evolve as the last track contains a bit of an afro touch with an organic vibe. A slightly slower pace than the original which gives it a feet-in-the-sound feel.

For the third release on @underthetrees-ofc, we welcome @sharpearstyle with a fab 2-track release. @jg_outsider takes credit for a remix on this release. Expect some dancing vibes.

Parade De Cirque is a smooth groove with dubby vibes and afro rhythms, blended into a catchy tune. The Beat Hotel is more oriental-influenced and has this nice rolling bassline as a red line. Glass-eyed moments during sunset time are guaranteed. JG Outsider pumps up the latest track with a more punchy bass and enhances the oriental feeling to make this a fairly upbeat and driving remix.

Here we go again! After reaching out 500 premieres just before our deserved summer break, the first step towards the 1.000th is given today: For the occasion, we had the privilege of reviewing master Diego Montiel’s (SXDNS194) contribution for the forthcoming VA of the still small but highly promising Antwerp-based label Under The Trees, whose curators spared no efforts to bring together a true dream team of acclaimed artists of the so-called Indie Dance/Dark Disco scene. Besides Diego, behold: Alex Aguayo, Andrea Acosta, Bonnie Spacey (SXDNS337) & Rem’s Martinez (SXDNS108), Mundo D, Parissior (SXDNS206), and Sylphomatic (SXDNS354), just to name a few, jumped in with high-quality themes and raised the bar of the compilation by turning it into one of the most solid releases of the year so far.

After appearing on Critical Monday and Side Up Works, his very own hub, Diego continues his 2023 journey by landing on the new Belgium imprint with his characteristic sonority and handling a darkness-infused and eye-shadowed cut that blends some of his most noticeable influences such as Post-Punk, New Wave, Gothic Rock, EBM, and Synthpop, resulting in a dance-floor-oriented piece that lives up to its name.

We have a fresh release coming up on Tanzgemeinschaft' sub label Under The Trees.

@SOUNDQ (short for SoundQuake) delivers an indie-dance-infused groove with infectious vocals. Do check out "U BTFL". You'll be hooked after a second listening session. 

His music draws inspiration from house, disco, techno, and even contemporary pop, yet it remains entirely singular. It's an underground, infectious, danceable and propulsive sound that offers a brave way forward to those willing to immerse themselves in it. SOUNDQ tracks have appeared on labels as there are Disco Halal, Ritter Butzke Records, URSL, ... and now, we are happy to have him with us.
