I know this isn't December-y at all but there's actually several reasons I decided to cover this song: 

1) It's just a good song 
2) They recently announced Mega Man X Legacy Collection which will have all 8 main MMX games, and it's on the Switch so they're portable now! 
3) For years I've been wanting to do a cover of this song that used triangle kicks

My winning entry to the Silly Venture 2017 YM2149-music competition. Nothing special as I was pressed with time and did the tune during the week before the party while being busy with everything else.

Elusive Groove

My entry to the 2017 Pokemon Holiday Megamix. It's a winter (even though its summer here) remix of the Kalos Power Plant/Pokeball Factory from Pokemon X/Y. Enjoy~

'Polarity' (Kalos Power Plant 2nd Remix)

A remastered extended version of the song made for the 2006 Candela demo of the same name.

For once I actually have the old project files around, albeit not usable on my current workstation. I instead set up a WinXP VM with all my old plugins and DAW:s so I could export and reference the stuff I used. The MIDI notes and Kontakt instruments were easily exportable to FL Studio, and the only casualty was the Cubase-specific filter plugin Tonic which I had to replicate as well as I could. I also added back some parts that were cut out of the demo for time, and replaced some drums to improve the mix.

A shout-out must go to the z3ta+ VSTi and its great implementation of Hermode tuning. It's what makes the signature sound of this track possible, having such aggressive distorsion without all the mud that comes from equal-tempered tuning.

I feel like I got the mood down pretty well for what I was going for with this theme (mischevious/sunny/nostalgic, mostly the former.) I'm not, however, sure about the transitions, or the order I picked to put the parts in. I'll let it sit a while and see how I feel about it.
