Done this one back in the 199D-something when first figuring out how to sample and mix stuff. Didn't have the best sampling capabilities. Fun little bit: tv's used to have a headphone jack. If you take a VHS tape (90s isht) and play a movie you could run an aux cord from the headphone jack in the tv into the mic line-in in your computer and rip stuff that way, or just loop it from the headphone jack on the computer into the line-in jack on the same computer. You have to have your levels right for that last one-- watch the clipping. I think it's all through the center channel-- hadn't gotten into panning back then. I was just starting out. Meh. Nina Simone (naturally) with some GooGoo Dolls and Aretha Franklin... hence Simone Franklin. Sometimes when naming tracks you get so many folders and files you just try to keep it simple. I had a lot of stuff in this era/period that was pretty dope and due to hard drive crashes, location changes, and other random living life crap just can't find anymore. Well, we go hard. In doing so, most times it's not just some b.s. commercial brainwashing crap. We go for lyrics. We push the beats. All of this is so the song is a dope as it can be. It's never about one piece, it's all pieces forming like Voltron to make an unstoppable force which is as entertaining as it is informative, raw, and real. Hopefully you get all of that from the music. The musical and life influences we have are like that, real people, sincere in their being and doing. It reflects in us and hopefully we reflect that in the music. We're all appreciative for all of the people and instances that have inspired us, and contributed in each and every way, even ways that were negative in their moments but still offered some form of energy to grow into a better version of the art and beings we all are. The Glitch of Glyphe on the mic (with a little bit of Zoey in the background). There's a little byrd on the strings and beat. It's dope to be in the studio together and get ideas flowing and actually craft a song. There's actually two versions of this song. The other one is more west coast hip hop and gangsta in the vibe. It's on a hard drive somewhere, hopefully not still in cali. Sometimes you lose some good music due to technical or personal, sometimes economic difficulties. C'est la guerre. Anyways, times make the music which makes the time, if you can make the time to make and enjoy the music. This one was good times which made some good music. The 1953 Jaguar XK-120 is the car in the cover art. This delivery of the song felt kinda smooth like that car. Classy like. Hope you dig it.

There's a lot of talent in the True Spitters camp. There's quite a few very dope producers as well, including Crooked Noize (@cameron-poole-3) , Imani Akil (@imaniakil), Hiii wAves (@wavenomics ...who also plays multiple instruments), The Glitch of Glyphe', and little byrd. Everyone has their own sound and style. This one is little byrd doing his thang. It's always fun to be in the studio with other folks. The energy is different... it flows more, but being in a room alone with just the beat is a conversation with energy like no other. Your own memories and feelings vibe with the sounds and things that go into the beat. Most of the times the beat is so good it doesn't need anything else, but sometimes it may inspire you to write something which might inspire you to make another beat. Music is an amazing language, and we're all very blessed to have our say in it.  This one is some Sade samples, in an attempt to have something relaxing but vibrant, bright, like Philly in the spring and summer... or all year around if you know where to go. The second half of the beat was actually produced first and shelfed, and then when listening to it again Byrd went back and added the first half. Sade is amazing, one of a kind. Music makes music. There's a little byrd working with the clowns on this one. (The Zephaniah Chesterfield Project (@zephaniahchesterfield) is some fam in Philly. We collab with a few folks, usually in the home team camp or one from yesterdazes... all family. Different groups produce different sounds because everyone's on different vibes. Everyone evolves differently at their own pace. There is no "good" or "bad" music, just music on a different level of a different vibe... you have a different perception of understanding of it and where it came from is all. You'll love it one day, hate it the next, be confused about it, and then completely get it and then get over it. In all of that, the song never changed. It is what it is. Period. Song help you understand people, and the main person it shows you is your self. Hopefully there's some peace and relaxation, a pause moment with some clear air and a bit of a natural organic feel in this one for you.
