These are 3 old beats which I’ve been sitting on for ages, I never felt like they were enough to do a full remix with, they’re pretty raw and I didn’t think they were polished enough to use basically. Then as soon as I did my remix of the Cypha Session from vol 2 of the Echo Unltd tapes, I had a feeling I could use these beats for a remix of another Cypha Session, they just fit the raw rugged vibe of a freestyle cypher in my opinion. I thought these 3 worked well together cause they’re all piano flips, with that simple but hardcore vibe to them. I structured them in this order cause I thought they gradually built on each other in terms of energy, the first is more laid back (but still fits the hardcore almost sinister vibe that the Cella Dwellas bring), the second speeds things up flow wise and definitely ups the energy, and then the 3rd beat is like the crescendo of it all, with a lot more low end and general volume to the sample, going with the most hyped up verse from the cypher with the craziest flows in my opinion. Because I knew I wanted to use multiple beats I chose the cypher from the volume 1, mainly because it’s the longest but there’s also a mad variety of flows which I then tested the beats against to see which ones would fit best. I think each of these beats fits the vibe and attitude of the different verses well, with the overall vibe being a rough and rugged feel, like the last Cypher Session remix, but hopefully the vocals are clearer this time.
