Fun und Gesellschaftskritik: Auf den ersten Blick Gegensätze. Aber, so der Volksmund, „Gegensätze ziehen sich an“. Dem Volk aufs Maul geschaut, haben die fünf Lads der Liga der gewöhnlichen Gentlemen und veröffentlichen mit „Arbeit ist ein Sechsbuchstabenwort“ einen ersten Song ihres neuen Albums „Rüttel mal am Käfig, die Affen sollen was machen!“ (VÖ 15.01.2016). Im patentierten Holzhammer-Soulsound rechnen die Gewöhnlichen mit des Deutschen zweitliebsten Kindes, nämlich der Arbeit, ab. 

Schade, dass jetzt Herbst ist, „Arbeit ist ein Sechsbuchstabenwort“ wäre ein perfekter Sommerhit geworden. Leider hat die Band getrödelt, denn ihrer Ansicht nach ist Arbeit ein ... ihr wisst schon.

Die Liga der gewöhnlichen Gentlemen - Arbeit ist ein Sechsbuchstabenwort

First five minutes of the first release on our new in-house label 'OTO roku'. This was recorded in January 2010 as part of Peter's first residency at Cafe OTO. The LP is the first of two sets performed on the final night of the residency with John Edwards on Double Bass and Steve Noble on Drums.

This was also the first time these three musicians had performed together.

The vinyl edition comes with two colour artwork by Peter Brötzmann silkscreened on a special 'duke parchment' acid-free archival card stock. The LP itself is housed in a two colour OTO-roku 'stock' 300gsm inner sleeve.

Recorded at Cafe OTO by Shane Browne, and Mastered by Andres [LUPO] Lupich at Dubplates & Mastering, Berlin. Record pressed on 180g virgin vinyl at Record Industry, The Netherlands.

The 39 Clocks are one of the most magnificent bands ever to have emerged from Germany; Diedrich Diederichsen, German pop boffin, considers them to be the nation’s best band of the 1980s. The “Next Dimension Transfer” box set, authorised by the band, provides the ultimate overview of the Clocks’ output – a phantom of the German music underground, enshrouded in myth. The 5 LP/CD box set contains two regular studio albums, two collections of outtakes, leftovers and rarities (one of them renamed, edited and updated by The 39 Clocks exclusively for this box set) plus a previously unreleased live LP from 1981 Furthermore: includes comprehensive deluxe booklet (“Revelations”) featuring mind-blowing new trivia and secrets (vinyl: 28 pages, CD: 44 pages).

lena andersson is a fictional character created by berlin-based japanese artist kyoka and irish producer eomac. both met in 2016 during a residency at the stockholm EMS studios. the initial spark of their collaboration was a joint session on the studio's buchla system, later expanding to multiple other sound sources and instruments at sessions in the etopia studio in zaragoza supported by fuga.

during the improvisations, a call-and-response working principle emerged immediately which joins the special talents of both musicians. kyoka's free and experimental approach forms part of the source material that is contrasted with eomac's skillful editing; unconventional reflections face a driving force. from kyoka's extensive field recording collection, an arabesque of disturbing vocal fragments arises that is set against eomac's hard rhythmic framework, as in »das tier«, for instance. »37 years later« or »mystic« live on a vivid texture that has been condensed directly at the mixing console into a kind of dramaturgical capturing of the moment. the immediacy of the collaboration forms the basis for a synergy of the individual production techniques. a strategy that lacks neither absolute creative freedom nor an awareness of musical function.

»söder mälarstrand« thus captures an intuitive cooperation between the two producers, which also refers back to the place of origin through its dialogical, moment-related production principle. the album title is a tribute to the stockholm studios where the project began.

»söder mälarstrand« will be released on the 28th of june 2019 on CD and digitally.

'Find Sound' is the debut record from Shards, a London based vocal group led by singer, composer and producer Kieran Brunt. Combining voices, synths and percussion, Find Sound is an astonishing exploration of the human voice; using the concepts of sound and light as simple metaphors for gaining understanding. The album’s pieces are intended to be miniature sonic paintings, with each adding to an overall picture of the emotional confusion of early adulthood: the uncertainty, the excitement, the terror and relief.

After collaborating with Terry Riley in 2016, Brunt was asked by the Barbican to form a choral group for Nils Frahm’s Possibly Colliding festival that summer. Following the success of the shows, Frahm invited Brunt to join him in Berlin to collaborate on choral arrangements for his recent album 'All Melody'. Shards have since gone on to collaborate with other notable artists, including Michael Price on his recent LP 'Tender Symmetry'.

Each of the singers in Shards brings a very distinctive musical personality to the group, something which Brunt was eager to emphasise on their debut record. Rather than aiming for a seamless blend or absolute precision when recording, the differences between voices has been intentionally highlighted — celebrating their unique textures and inviting the listener to hear their minutest details up-close.

"The group ended up consisting almost entirely of friends and friends-of-friends. I also tried my best to ask people who weren’t just singers, but who do have other projects and musical interests. As such, we have people in the group who are also composers, instrumentalists, folk musicians and teachers.
