Steppas Records are pleased to announce the release of “Get Up” by UK dubstep heavy-weights Goli and Ashburner. The newest record from the cult-indie label also includes remixes by world renowned dubstep musicians RSD (aka Rob Smith) and Alpha Steppa. Representing a move towards darker, deeper and heavier roots-based dubstep, “Get Up” demonstrates the best of UK dubstep at it's most innovative. 

Having spent much of 2010 and 2011 releasing on majors such as Chemical Records, Ministry of Sound and Clandestine Cultivations, Goli and Ashburner are now placed in the centre of the current dubstep explosion. Their energetic mix of grime, bassline and dubstep has won them international fans following tours in America, Belgium, Sweden, Holland and Croatia. With “Get Up” they demonstrate their commitment to dubstep that is heavy, full of bass and cutting-edge. 

RSD, one half of legendary duo Smith and Mighty, has been making waves in the UK bass scene since the 1980’s. Considered pioneers of the dubstep scene, Smith and Mighty were never ones to shy away from experimenting with dub, reggae and drum’n’bass. RSD’s solo work is regarded as being just as significant and he has released on well respected labels such as Punch-Drunk, Earwax and Tectonic. His contribution to “Get Up” is deep, energetic and driven by a trademark, chest-rattling  RSD bass line.

Alpha Steppa, child protégé of Alpha and Omega, debuted in 2010 with a bang. His label, Steppas Records began in style, offering up fresh dubs and soundsystem mixes by his mentors, as well as one of the final releases by titan of the reggae scene, the late Gregory Isaacs. Alpha Steppa produces dubstep that is aware of it's roots heritage and works to integrate that into some of the most innovative dubs being made today. Currently based in Eastern Asia, he has begun integrating an authentic oriental sound into the UK dubstep vibe. This ground-breaking style can be seen clearly in the two tracks he has contributed to the “Get Up” EP - a deep, sub-heavy remix offset by a crisp version with a heavy UK dub vibe.

Alpha and Omega, true icons of the dub world have joined forces with son and nephew Alpha Steppa to create Dub Dynasty. The record, in the words of Alpha Steppa, is “an exploration of the unrelenting force of nature and the inspirational powers that brought us together to create this record.”

Taking inspiration from this credo, the title Unrelenting Force is a true reflection of the power and community that dub has mastered. Alpha and Omega and Alpha Steppa have called on their favourite collaborators from the UK, Ireland, South America, New York, Jamaica and South Korea to join with them in merging their pure, unadulterated dub into one of the deepest releases ever seen.

Alpha Steppa spent 2011/12 living and creating music in Asia, and he has been rewarded with some powerful connections in South Korea. For Unrelenting Force, he has called in Koonta, a member of Rude Paper and Korean reggae duo Koonta & Nuoliunce. Having worked with Alpha Steppa in Korea the pair’s previous collaboration is indicated with the smoothness and ease in which Eastern and Western styles are mixed. Another artist from Korea to feature on the release is up-and-coming melodica wunderkind Smiley Song. Featured here on the tracks Dub Dynasty and Warrior Song, Smiley proves that the roots sound is alive and well all over the world. Singing on Chicken and the Cow and the Buffalo and Goodness is N’Goni, one of the most exciting and mysterious new lyricists/singers to hit the scene. One of the most powerful tracks on the album is Monsoon Come, featuring the Dublin based South American singer Ras Tinny, this song is a true representation of the Dub Dynasty sound and is sure to surface as a single. Dub Dynasty is pleased to introduce these exciting new talents to the dub community and are certain a huge future awaits them.

Dub Judah, of Dub Jockey label fame, is one of the most respected names in UK Dub. His vocals on The Earth to It’s Original Form prove that old dub gods don’t die, they just get better and better. If you listen to dub and aren’t in awe of the name Linval Thompson, you aren’t listening hard enough. This iconic producer and singer has been making reggae since he was 20, playing with every major artist that ever passed through New York or Jamaica. A producer of over 40 albums, he is considered one of the essential contributors to reggae and its message in the 1970’s golden era. Featured here on the dub Long Time, Thompson’s vocals are as memorable as they are powerful. A taster of the full Linval Thompson release from Vibration Lab due for release next year.

Last but not least, Cian Finn contributes his unique blend of Celtic spirit and rootikal dub to 9 Years and Dub Island. Finn’s work as a member of Intinn saw the group named Best Upcoming Reggae act in the U.K and Ireland and he is renowned for his overwhelming positivity and insight into the principals of dub/reggae. Finn worked with Alpha Steppa on this year’s Moonshine Steppas release and the pair play off each other beautifully to create music that has a universal appeal and message.

The whole album is presented on limited edition 12" vinyl in a beautifully designed sleeve accompanied by a CD containing bonus mixes and dubs. This LP is powered by bass, the kind of bass that can reverberate through your whole body and lift you into another time and place.

Alpha Steppa i Alpha & Omega su u sklopu ovog projekta pozvali razna gostovanja iz cijelog svijeta što je rezultiralo čistim i neiskvarenim zvukom.
