We’re pleased as punch to welcome Guillaume & The Coutu Dumonts for
his Freerange debut with the Revolution In The Cycles EP. The plucky Canadian via Berlin producer will be well known to most of you through his releases on labels such as Circus Company, Oslo and Raum Musik or maybe you witnessed the master at work crafting one of his amazing live sets. Either way, you’ll know how he likes it, mixing up his deep understanding of rhythm from his years spent playing drums with the unquestioned groove of house and hypnotic beauty of techno. The result is a unique, slightly wonky brand of off kilter house which is perfectly summed up here on this three track EP.
You Lost It brings the undiluted filter funk - loose, rolling disco beats
with a weaving synth string bringing the tension and build.  Doughnut Jam
(Who Took It Out) sees Guillaume in playful techno mode as he weaves his
magic across a jacking groove, subtly tweaking as things progress, little
sounds and motifs appearing and disappearing before you’ve noticed.  We
absolutely love this.  Finally, Sutra goes super deep.  Seriously deep.
It’s 11 minutes long and you’ll find yourself wishing it was twice that.
It’s that good.
As Freerange hits number 201 we couldn’t wish for a better release to
encapsulate and sum up where we’ve come from and where we’re going. Enjoy.

Sunday, whether you are finishing your night out at an After After Pary or just chilling in the afternoon with a nice glass of vino, normally you are looking for a more chilled out mix to accompany those times.  We thought it would be good idea to ask our favourites DJs to dig a bit further in to their record boxes and go a bit more eclectic than their normal Saturday night tunes and  start a brand new Chilled Transmission Series. So this is start of that new series, we asked British producer, DJ and engineer Billy Kenny to step up to be number 1.  His hit track "Work" has reigned the bass heavy side of festivals ever since it's release in August 2014 and continues to do so while more recent releases on Dirtybird, Sweat It Out and his co-run imprint "This Ain't Bristol" circulate the globe. 

We also going to ask each DJ to give us a little intro the mix and the thought behind it, this is what Billy had to say:  "I’ve wanted the opportunity to show people what i’m listening to in my downtime for a while now. Although my productions don’t speak the word “chill” too often, it’s rare i won’t listen to a few from this playlist whilst winding down.

Some are long time favourites of mine, others i’ve discovered more recently and fallen in love with. In particular, the first and last tracks were part of my childhood and i’ve come to appreciate them so much more as i’ve gotten older. My girlfriend introduced me to Elderbrook not so long ago and i instantly became attached to his stuff, he’s a genius at both producing and singing. I was on a rooftop in Johannesburg earlier this year watching the sun go down, and although it wasn’t the first time i’d heard the Lovebirds’ “Want You In My Soul”, i always think of that moment.

Big up everyone in this list, you often make my day better and i hope it does the same for anyone listening."

Right so that’s that then. Dry January is over and there's only 29 days to completely reverse any health benefits cutting out the sauce may have had. So in the spirit of the majority of Britain, Charlie Sheen and Russell Brand we’ve decided to go back to our old ways and indulge ourselves in the only way we know how: invite one of our favourite previous podcast contributors back for a second bite of the DT cherry. 

But who have your brought back, we hear you cry? Sasha, Moby Disclosure? Nope. We’ve turned to our old mucker Matthew Benjamin, who better known by his one half of Layo & Bushwacka and now Just Be never fails to impress. His first mix for us as a solo artist came back in the spring of 2013 when, with the sun setting on his time as part of one of the world’s most beloved tech house duos and his Just Be project quickly heating up with tracks and remixes for the likes of Crosstown Rebels, Tronic and also Get Physical he turned in a mix of serious distinction.

Now an established tech house tour de force, with his Volcano EP in our heads and on our playlists and a residency at Ibiza hotspot Sankeys on the horizon for the summer, we couldn’t think of a better way of kickstarting our year than commissioning an all vinyl mix from one of the scene’s leading selectors and guess what? We were right. It is the ideal way to start your week, month and year so what are you doing still reading this? Get this on your speakers pronto.

When Enrico Sangiuliano looks back on his life in years to come, we imagine he'll think of 2015 as the year he made it. That's not to say the Italian wasn't around before that - he's been spinning at his nation's biggest illegal raves since 2003, and has built up expertise as a producer and sound designer too, landing releases on Drumcode, Truesoul and many more.

However, it was one fateful release last year that really catapulted him to stardom. Dropping in August, Enrico's remix of DJ Boris' 'Can You Hear Me' carved his name into the record books, claiming the longest ever running #1 in the Beatport Techno chart at 14 weeks! Enrico also claimed the highest selling Beatport Techno track for 2015 and the longest time in the global top 10 in the best of Beatport chart, all of which earned him the #8 spot on best selling techno artists of 2015!

Quite the list of achievements then, and we're not the only ones who think so. Enrico has garnered support from across the techno community, with the likes of Sven Väth, Adam Beyer, Alan Fitzpatrick, Pan-Pot and Stephan Bodzin all singing his praises. Momentum like Enrico's doesn't come around everyday, so you can bet the Italian will fully capitalise on his success and make 2016 his own too, kicking off with his Data Transmission Podcast.

Now our mother always told us never to trust a man with two first names, but in Danny Howard’s case we’re willing to make an exception.  Living his life by the mantra that ‘Nothing Else Matters’ (but the music of course), the radio don believes so strongly in the power of those words that he named both his record label and successful run of events just that as a reminder of his commitment to showcasing the sound he’s so passionate about to the masses. 

Currently enjoying a hot streak as both a DJ and producer, the coming month sees Danny boy touch down in Liverpool for UK institution Cream Saturday February the 20th before releasing his club ready remix of Riton’s ‘Rinse & Repeat’ for Ministry of Sound on the 26th. Thus, bright sparks that we are, we thought we’d get in on the action and welcome the Blackpool native in to the hallowed group of DJs selected to record a Data Transmission mix. Giving us an insight in as to what we can expect from in throughout the rest of 2016, we won’t spoil the surprise as to what made the cut when Danny was selecting just what to include when crafting this mix although we will tell you that it kept us locked in from start to finish, causing one dancing related injury in the office along the way. DTP475 - Danny Howard - Datatransmission

Tom Hades is a DJ who needs little introduction, but just in case you've been living under a techno-proof rock for the last 15 years, we're going to give him one anyway.

Kicking off his career proper back in 2001, when he dropped mega-hit 'I Love Techno' with friend and collaborator Marco Bailey, the Belgian has since gone on to grace the likes of Drumcode, Bedrock and Bailey's MB Elektronics with his productions, along with clubs and festivals across the globe with his sets.

After setting up his Rhythm Convert label with Bailey in the mid-2000s, Hades relaunched the imprint as a solo project in 2010, changing (or should we say converting) the name to Rhythm Converted in the process. Then, earlier this year, the label hit a major milestone in its 100th release, and with that Hades announced yet more changes.

Feeling that it has become evermore difficult for artists and labels to stand out in an over-saturated market, Hades promised an updated logo, fresh sound, new artwork and "more focus on a family identity." Through this Hades hopes to create a sense of exclusivity and nurture talent to create a passionate and technically adept unit to rival his own standards.

Now that we've practically given you Hades' life story, it's probably about time we piped down and let him... or rather, his music... do the talking!

With his new Pink Fly EP having just dropped via his own Whistleblower imprint, genre blurring UK producer Reset Robot serves up a seismic edition of DT podcast guaranteed to get you flexing all of those boogying muscles.

A Portsmouth native, Reset Robot runs the UK label alongside fellow South Coaster's Alan Fitzpatrick and Rhymos, and having developed an eclectic sound residing in the shadowy depths between techno and house, looks set to have the biggest of years ahead of him.

The record follows the producer's recent excursions alongside Jon Gurd and Tom Powell as one third of burgeoning techno triumvirate Mister Woo, and offers a complex blend of raw electronica, twisted beat patterns and snarling sonics guaranteed to set dancefloors on fire.

Created in his own image, the mix reflects both of his recent EPs in its ability to make coarse, muscular clutter undisputably danceable. Packed with his own material with a few works from from Roman Lindau and Hybrasil scattered in for good measure, the mix is available to stream and download now.

We don't like techno, we love it...

10 years behind the decks, with 3 seasons as an Ibiza resident. It's safe to say Suffolk based Jack Akehurst has done his apprenticeship.  Deep musical knowledge mixed with an elaborate technical style Not afraid of dropping the occasional out of the box tune into the mix. 2015 was a break out year highlighted by 2 sets for tribal sessions at Sankeys Ibiza, appearing with Jess bays and warming up for cuffs clouded judgement at DOMUS & Friends 

2016 look's set for big things with his residency with highly rated new promotion DOMUS, with sets for Tribal Sessions, Summer-ized Sessions + More, along with his foray into production later in the year.
