It is a kind of practical joke, you know how the way people sing with full of expressions, emotions, blood and tears in karaoke room. 
Karaoke (カラオケ) itself is a portmanteau of Japanese kara 空 "empty", and ōkesutora オーケストラ "orchestra"
so this idolwannabe-turned-singer is basically "empty".

While Sigmund Freud (1856- 1939) says that dreams as protecting sleep, and even more, as protecting our deepest desires and fears. 

Well, this is exactly what Tarmedi is thinking: deepest desire. Enough said.
