A Tangle Of Rivers

The first track from my upcoming release - out any week now! This is the "late morning" track, an epic acoustic wake n' bake chill sesh with your favorite edible as you wander from one bucolic scene to the next. Starts off with a generous portion of free time (as all mornings should), then kicks into second gear with a 5/8 rhythm; the journey continues down into a drone pit of harmonium, e-bow, flutes, percussion, and bird field audio before the final jam-off between the guitar and flutes brings it to an end.

This is definitely the most mellow TARTAR work to date, and also the most guitar-intensive. It also has the distinction of using over 15 different guitar tunings!

A Ripple Of Beads

From the upcoming fourth album. Rough mix. The title is tenative, but the concept is settled on, musical and otherwise. It's gonna be metal. It's gonna be a dreamy psychedelic sci-fi yarn about an epic odyssey - hence the title of the album, ОДИС. And...all lyrical content is gonna be entirely in Russian!

Laptop speakers definitely not recommended. (If you listen to new music with laptop speakers, you're probably not my target audience anyway.)

Is this a demo? An outtake from the sessions for the yet-to-be-titled fourth album? Where does this belong in the TARTAR oeuvre? Will this go on the next Hypnologues volume - or is this a standalone musical statement, a solitary post in a barren field?

I will say that this whole thing - video included! - was pieced together in under 24 hours...which is truly a TARTAR first! Usually, these compositions take months, if not years!

Sometimes, it is best to keep it simple.

Time/Dreamtime

From the **fourth album** due out later this year (a double-album metal opera) - a heady and epic mixture of everything that comprises TARTAR's musical DNA. 

There are two tracks here rolled into one. The opener is a classic deep-C drone, and the main track is a noise/metal epic. After five minutes of brain-melting drone psychedelia, submerge yourself in pure noise scronk - then come up for air with an elegiac acoustic bridge - then steel yourself for slabs of blastbeats, flowing like an obsidian river underneath an unstoppable tsunami of dissonant guitar harmonies!  The outro is a brain-melting cauldron of noise, drone, baritone monk chant, and orchestral flourishes. 

Not always pleasant, but never boring!

When not poring over intricate details of densely-tracked album epics, TARTAR loops some loopy-loops to unwind and get those musical brain-juices flowing...inspiration arrives unbidden!
