milo is a Black American artist, husband and father based in Milwaukee, WI. His latest work Who Told You To Think?!? is a stirring piece of liberation technology hidden in plain sight. There are no answers, only utopian suggestions that often point towards himself. Ourselves. Yourself. When James Baldwin says "the poets are the only people who know the truth about us," I am reminded that milo is one of rap’s last true believers who has been called for such a time as this. To remember who we are, who we were and what can be.

Who Told You To Think?!? is a 15 track bio myth map of dusty, thick bottomed loops and warmly truncated glitches rooting itself as an initiate in the Black radical tradition. Despite its seeming formalism, milo is most comfortable arresting your expectations of his multiple identities. He wields his particular brand of wry observations and cutting humor over well layered production that is simultaneously thumping yet weightless. A wholly absorbing and intimate affair, there is a sense of wonder drawn from its stillness. Here is a way out. Here is a way in. The records brims with righteous anger, uncompromising joy and the haunting refrain of a man who understands that his politics are personal when he intones, "don’t stop running if you don’t see me ahead."

Joined by a cadre of similarly visioned voices and technicians who understand that what’s understood ain’t gotta be said, the Ruby Yacht Guild has deepened its ranks and expanded its national reach.
