Task Horizon present the fifth instalment of their 'Respawned' LP with Ekwols & Malux on Remix duties.

Both Ekwols & Malux have been strong artists on the Evolution Chamber roster and have amassed an impressive remixing history between them which includes ihsetiK, Keaton & Hive, Noisia, Camo & Krooked & Mefjus, and Billain.

'Legacy' and 'Drowning In Fire' originally featured on Task Horizon's highly praised ‘Raised By Robots' EP, which was released in 2020. Both tracks, known for their captivating blend of musical and industrial hard-hitting sounds, were ideal candidates for Ekwols and Malux to showcase their remixing skills.

Ekwols' remix of 'Legacy' takes listeners on a pulsating yet emotive journey, paying homage to the original composition while incorporating Ekwols' unmistakable fusion of musicality and dance-floor energy. Malux's remix of 'Drowning In Fire' introduces a fresh twist as it transforms the original track into a rhythmic steppy roller that seamlessly blends with Task Horizon's original opus and the production maestros' distinguishable sound.

As the highly anticipated release of the complete 'Respawned' LP draws nearer, there are still several chapters waiting to unfold before the full album is revealed.

2023 marked the initiation of Task Horizon's Respawned Remix series, which has so far seen remixes by notable artists such as Audio, Burr Oak, Ekwols, Malux, Joe Ford, and Phace. As we move into 2025, we remain committed to this endeavour and are proud to present the sixth instalment of the series, brought to life by the acclaimed Slovakian producer SLWDWN.

Since his debut release in 2019 on Invasion Recordings, SLWDWN has built an impressive portfolio, with releases on prominent labels including Blackout, Eatbrain and SINFUL MAZE. Last year, he unveiled his debut album, ‘Persona’, on SINFUL MAZE, earning widespread support and solidifying his reputation as one of the most exciting artists in Drum & Bass.

Taking the reins for the sixth instalment of the project, SLWDWN delivers a dynamic reinterpretation of "Mindfragger." His version flawlessly channels the original into a darker, moodier, techno-infused direction while honouring the essence of the original track.

With the release of the full Respawned LP fast approaching, only two chapters remain before the complete album is unveiled.

After setting the tone with “Where Is The Moon?” — the sweeping opener of the “In Orbit” series featuring The Velvet Effect — Joe Ford and Task Horizon return for the second chapter of their collaboration project - ‘In Orbit’. This time, they welcome one of Evolution Chamber’s most exciting additions and the pioneer of the Neurogoth movement, Ekwols, to deliver a track that signals a bold shift in energy: “Sunfall.”

Since joining the label in 2023, Ekwols has quickly become a standout name within the Evolution Chamber roster. Known for his immersive atmospheres, raw emotion, and signature punk-like vocal work, a collaboration with either Joe Ford or Task Horizon was always a matter of time — but bringing all three together makes “Sunfall” feel like a moment.

The track begins with an almost elemental stillness, waking gradually through organic textures and gentle ambience. Ekwols’ vocals creep in with a sense of anticipation, heightening the tension of each 16 bar section before dropping into a kinetic, unfiltered barrage of thunderous drums and snarling reece basses. His vocals remain woven through the chaos, adding an emotional thread to the heaviness below. The intensity is undeniable, but so is the detail — every element throughout the track is engineered to showcase each producer’s individual strengths while serving a shared vision.

“Sunfall” stands in sharp contrast to its predecessor, underlining the adaptability and range of the series. However, from that moment they’ve been working meticulously on their craft, one which has become more and more definitive throughout their career whilst hitting another crescendo with this next release.

And alongside their reformation, they’ve also kick-started the imprint which became just as notorious as their music. Their self release imprint was a creative platform which Task Horizon formed to expose some of their slickest cuts; for those who knew about the imprint’s importance, as well as new fans waiting eagerly in the backdrop, its comeback will be just as revered as its head honchos. With a thriving new team, they’ve delivered a tearaway double-sided single which underlines a new period for the production outfit. 2017 has been the year for independent imprints and Task Horizon are elevating the game once again.

Your first reintroduction is through ‘Forbidden Planet’, a cut-throat, sonic exploration of the skill set Task Horizon have fashioned within their Swiss solitude. Stepping out daintily on a foreboding, twisting introduction filled with tell-tale sample snippets and lightly snapping percussion, an ominous melody weaves throughout the mix like a spectre. The track’s crunching snares then crash forward, ripping into its skeleton and detonating all-out anarchy. Made up of a self-proclaimed mad scientist music producer/DJ, one equally mad professor of music, and two sound technicians, the outfit had already proven their aptitude following releases on Blackout and Cause4Concern. And their most recent output ‘Forbidden Planet / Rogue Transmission’ further solidifies why they’d garnered such a fearsome reputation, although it also gave a snapshot into the progressing sound spectrum they now rule supreme over, developed during their brief hiatus.

‘Adaptation’ is the reverse and it furthers the assault, cutting through with the type of sonics which have become an enviable part of Task Horizon’s arsenal. With clashing metallics and an air siren like distortion of bass, ‘Adaption’ once again comes at you with its teeth bared.

‘Thought Crime’ is the first of two tracks, beginning the single with a cutthroat expedition of the monikers which Task Horizon have perfected. Winding up on quickly flitting note arpeggios and straying hi hats, a final tapped introduction pulls you into its first explosive drop. Task Horizon make a comeback on Evolution Chamber with the next part of their ‘Hack the Planet’ EP series; already solidifying fan’s expectations with ‘Disintegrate’, the second edition of its sequence is just as explosive on impact. ‘Mekaneck’ continues the high-arching trend which was set up through ‘Disintegrate’ whilst simultaneously reaffirming why they’re seen as some of the most technically adept producers within the contemporary drum & bass scene.

Not only does ‘Mekaneck’ also represent Task Horizon’s second record to drop on the newly relaunched Evolution Chamber, alongside Anglo Russian production duo Magnetude, and Receptor, it brings forward the theme which each track on the label dives into. Evolution Chamber has committed itself to creating stories out of its catalogue and this time ‘Mekaneck’ centres itself around the hero whose name many sci-fi fans will recognise.

Telling the tale of ‘Mekaneck’ with splitting, chaotic drum sequences, which are perfectly refined yet still shattering with their power, its jaunty riffs add the stamp which makes Task Horizon’s music so noticeable on the dancefloor. Punctuated by percussive slaps and empowered, frenzied spikes of synthesis, you’re pulled into the chaos even through its first breakdown. ‘Mekaneck’ is urgent, bewildered and takes you through the heroes agonised journey. Task Horizon set you up to be moved into the world of the Evolution Chamber, this time as ‘Mekaneck’ battles for his place in its universe.
