Spoiler: This is an emotional one...

Suddenly a small dream came true and I played my first festival gig on on the most loveliest one in Switzerland.
As I having health wise some challenging times, preparing it was emotional for me. Playing it with all it‘s up & downs was a small emotional rollercoaster for me. And only after listening to it again and feeling those emotions settling (and noticing that some of them were totally irrational xD) I feel the fullest joy of it!

Here is my set from @mjutme in Leipzig. My first Set in a bigger city other than Berlin and it was quite a ride. I played the opening on the upper floor which was more like an ice-chamber and i had to wear a scarf the whole set ... Thanks to the @mitdirfestival, the whole crew and all the people in the crowd for making this night so special and bringing the much needed heat to the floor. 

Due to some fuzziness in the early morning the recording got lost in space and time ... but as we say in Germany "gut Ding will Weile haben" - it found its way back to Berlin.

Madloch's Sound Avenue is thrilled to welcome Maltese duo Huts On Beaches to the label for their debut EP Seasons, featuring two refreshing melodic progressive house cuts that showcase their unique sonic signature.

Hailing from the island of Malta, Karl Gauci and Keith Bunce first crossed paths a decade ago during a serendipitous search for a vintage Korg MS-10 in Birkirkara. This chance encounter blossomed into a creative partnership that saw them collaborate in various projects, most notably with local electronic band CRUX, where they shared stages with international acts like Alphaville and Uriah Heep.

The duo's journey as Huts On Beaches began taking shape in 2022, when they channeled years of accumulated ideas into their first productions. After honing their craft at Malta's renowned Temple Studios, they unveiled a series of well-received tracks, including Coastal Signals and Flying over the French Riviera, establishing their reputation for atmospheric, meticulously crafted electronica.

Their Seasons EP for Sound Avenue marks an exciting new chapter, with the title track and Cycles demonstrating their evolved production approach: blending organic musicality with the energy of progressive house. As they continue working on new material in their Maltese studio, this release positions Huts On Beaches as one of the most promising emerging acts in the melodic house sphere.

🗯🗯 Mit welchen Clubs / Kollektiven seit ihr verbunden? 🗯🗯

Die letzten 6 Jahren war definitiv das Uferlos in Luzern für uns die wichtigste Plattform/ Netzwerk/ Lokal und Wohnzimmer, welches Lukas mit einem Kollegen geleitet hatte.
 
Da haben wir uns sehr wohl gefühlt, viel Zeit verbracht, Veranstaltet, getanzt und mindestens 1 Mal im Monat selbst hinter den Decks gestanden. Leider war genau vor einem Monat (trotz Corona) das Closing vom Uferlos… wie so oft: das Gebäude wird abgerissen und es gibt eine Überbauung.
 
Ansonsten fühlen wir uns extrem gut im Hive (Zürich) aufgehoben. Wir sind nun seit ca. 2 Jahren auch Resident im Binnenstock und spielen min. 1-2 mal im Monat im Hive. Ebenfalls in Zürich bei der Frieda's Büxe (Zürich) und Klaus Klub (Zürich). Das sind die Läden, die wir halt selbst mega feiern und letztendlich auch am meisten bespielen dürfen.

Hive Audio als Plattenlabel ist für uns sicher auch ein wichtiger Punkt. Wir sind im Team sehr gut miteinander befreundet und wir als Interpreten «Sous Sol» haben sehr starken Support von der ganzen Crew. Danke dafür!

🗯🗯 Wie ist die Situation bei euch? 🗯🗯

In der Schweiz führt aktuell jeder Kanton eigenständig seine eignen Corona-Rules ein. Zum Beispiel in Luzern, wo wir leben, sind die Clubs letzte Woche auf max. 100 Personen reduziert worden. Vorher waren es 300 Personen… Somit finden aktuell praktisch keine Veranstaltungen statt.

45km neben uns in Zürich dürfen die Clubs weiterhin bis zu 300 Personen reinlassen, sofern die PartygängerInnen ihre Personalien angeben und alles korrekt erfasst wird. Dies bedeutet für viele Clubs eine schwierige Herausforderung - es finden enorm weniger Veranstaltungen statt. Es betrifft natürlich nicht nur das Nachtleben... 

Für uns bedeutet es, dass wir zurzeit nur wenige Bookings haben. Es sind alles sehr spontane Geschichten, da keiner wirklich vorausplanen kann.
 
Durften zwar die letzten 4-5 Wochen glücklicherweise 2-3 Gigs spielen... aber der Forcast für die nächsten paar Wochen sehen ziemlich mies aus. 

ABER: die Anfragen kommen eben sehr kurzfristig rein... mal schauen wie sich die die nächsten Wochen entwickeln. Vor allem National halt. International mussten wir einen Gig in Istanbul absagen und es sind keine weiteren Anfragen in der Pipeline. 
 
Wir hoffen, dass sich die Situation um Covid19 bald wieder beruhigt und der Spuck endlich vorbei ist. Aktuell verbringen wir dafür sehr viel Zeit im Studio, geniessen unsere Zeit, Essen gut und machen uns aufs Comeback ready 😊
