“Beta-Tape" is culmination of Muira’s emotions. Her feelings distilled in(to) harmony. When Muira first appeared in the new world, the memories and effects she most closely associated with molding her into who she was, followed. This anamnesis, those things her soul recognized, they cemented themselves into the folds surrounding her, becoming relics of a progressively more fuzzy past. "Beta-tape" coats the throat in nostalgia as Muira struggles with the bitter-sweet crisis of coming change.  Trying her best to hold onto herself, "Beta-tape" is a swirling ballad to her past.

It is our true pleasure to introduce LUNAR RADIO, our mix series where we'll be featuring the most buzzing Asian American producers/DJ names in the scene and sharing some auditory love to our community. We'll be inviting guests to weave together intimate, personal mixes that showcase themselves as individuals and artists, be it the songs they grew up vibing with, the music that represents themselves and their heritage, and the artists they look up to. 

For our inaugural MIX 01 to kick off Memorial Day 2022, we're stoked to welcome Jon Duan, a San Francisco based, Chinese-American DJ.  Known for his 'breadth' series and seamless transitions, he'll be showcasing a mix that reflects the music he listened to growing up across punk, metal, house, trap, and future bass.

Lunar & I connected when I had already arranged 1/3 of this mix. Had originally intended for it to be the next installment of my 'breadth' mix series but when they explained to me the vision for LUNAR RADIO, I buckled down & challenged myself to make something really true to me.

I grew up listening to a lot of metal & punk adjacent music - you'll hear that in the vocals I sample & songs I select. This mix covers quite a bit of ground with the genres of electronic music I love - encompassing house, trap, future bass, etc. Made it a point to feature Asian artists I cherish & admire: Manila Killa, Peggy Gou, Tokimonsta, keshi, 88rising to name a few.

Thanks so much to Kevin & the Lunar team for the opportunity to debut LUNAR RADIO. Stoked to see where this goes & the rising talent y'all put on. This is the most ambitious mix I've released & had so much fun stitching it together ❤️

The project “MUIRA,” was born with Vh3 Ether. The song in its entirety is an outward reflection of the way I feel about myself. While creating VH3, I felt a deep sense of unity with the music. Almost like the music was no longer a separate entity from myself, but more of an extension of my consciousness, stretching out and filling up the space around me. Vh3 Ether inspired and is responsible for so much of my musical identity. I hope you love Vh3 as much as I do.
