For the summer, I decided to write a tropical-ish theme that would fit in a bright, sunny setting. I tried to capture the energy of a crowded, popular beach using some tropical instruments combined with pop influences.

This would fit in types of games such as RPGs, lighthearted platformers, puzzle games, etc.

Party at the Beach

This is a track I created while experimenting with drum loops. It's kind of a low-energy tune with positive elements. Surprisingly, the loop heard in this final version is not the same one that the original melody was written for.

Waiting Room

It's a song inspired by the fast flying energy of a jet or a spaceship. The main structure of the song is somehow just 0:50 seconds long - doesn't it seem to feel longer than that?

Aerial Provocation

Written for Music Weeklies challenge #MimicAGameOST. Certain melodies inspired by Hirokazu Tanaka's "Runaway Five on the Move!" from Earthbound, which composer Shogo Sakai referenced a lot in Mother 3.

Gummy Bear Bop

It's a re-arrangement track I produced in 2020 as promotional material for a book series called "The World Eater" by N.J.Zeiter. Originally, the track used mid-90s era sound libraries like SC-88 and Proteus, but I used it as a practice piece here with full realistic(ish) instruments.

Enter, Slayer! (2023 Mix)

Similar to "Enter, Slayer! (2023 Mix)", I re-arranged this one using SampleTank 4 and EastWest libraries. I tried to leave the original sequence alone for the most part, just replacing instruments and altering mixing.

It's a wild piece that seems to break a lot of conventional music rules. I was particularly inspired by the sounds of the Nintendo Wii channels.

Out of all of the tracks I created for my "Anything Goes" project, this was without a doubt the absolute hardest. I revisited and changed so many aspects of the arrangement, instrument positions, etc. I think the result is a piece I could not have dreamed of creating even a year ago.

Crossing Colossus

Every good VGM-inspired album needs a boss theme. This one is inspired a lot by the Zelda boss themes across the series. It also has the "frantic death piano" trope that Nintendo keeps using in their games (seriously, it's in almost every game).

I re-arranged an old track of mine using Chipsynth SFC's built in sounds, resulting in a track that sounds fitting for the SNES/16-bit era of video game music. The composition is inspired by the works of T-SQUARE and Atsuyoshi Isemura

Aerial Provocation (SFC Ver.)

A track written for the chiptune MusicWeeklies challenge. While most chiptune I do follows the 2a03 channel restrictions, I changed this one to allow for twice the amount of channels (plus a freewave channel). I was definitely going for a Mario Kart style first and foremost, but there are elements that draw inspiration from a few different areas.

This is a sort-of arcade styled tune I wrote a little while ago, it's meant to fit as background music to exhilarating gameplay like racing, a challenging puzzle game, or something else entirely. This is purely a demo track created for my portfolio.

High-Score Setter

Arranged for the Music Weeklies David Wise challenge, where participants had to rearrange a new 8-bit theme by David Wise using modern instruments. For my entry, I tried to bring in some soft and eerie sounds without making it 'spooky' or 'creepy'. I wanted to give it a little bit of an October/Fall influence I suppose, definitely heavily inspired by the Autumn Heights section of DKC Tropical Freeze (also composed by Wise). Past fifty seconds in I decided to include some slightly improvised lines fit to similar chords as the original music. I hope you enjoy it!

Likewise Limbo (David Wise Challenge)

Written back in February 2020 for my friend Canana's chiptune collaboration album titled "Heroic Can-paign". Since I joined the album quite late, I decided to go for a style distinct from the other music already produced. Unlike most of my other works, this track is meant to emulate the N163 expansion chip for the NES, adding two extra custom waveform channels that I utilized a lot here for the melody. Looking back, I really enjoy the contrast between the bounciness and the seriousness of the tone.
