As 2020 comes to close we are taking stock of life as it compares to a year ago. Nothing was as it seemed then, and likely nothing is now either. We are all deep inside a massive collective psychedelic journey. Good trip bad trip, all our paths overlap. 

On our new album, out now, we explore the idea that we are at the crux of a significant leg of this journey.  Like that moment in most every trip when you are faced with a fear or anxiety and must make a decision on how to proceed, the crux presents both crisis and opportunity.

The featured track here, "Common Ground” is about finding a place for us all to meet in these divisive times in hopes that we can unify and find a path forward.

Cooperation, communication and dialogue are key to unity and resilience.

On the Crux album we are taking musical chances. Some of the most personal songs we’ve written mixed with raw sketched out ideas, to full blown improvised compositions. This is our way of processing the radical changes that have become routine for all of us. This album represents our subconscious hopes and fears for the time ahead. TAUK has been painting with sound for nearly a decade now, pushing boundaries and reinventing themselves every chance they get. Founded by Dolan, Jalbert, and Carter, who began playing together as middle schoolers on Long Island, the band landed on its present incarnation in 2012, when college pal Teel joined full time.

Since then, the quartet has gone on to tour with the likes of Umphrey’s McGee, Widespread Panic, and Lettuce, landed festival slots everywhere from Bonnaroo to Electric Forest, racked up millions of streams across platforms, and garnered extensive critical praise with a series of widely lauded studio and live albums.
