Up next is another Ram native who’s had an impeccable year. A quintessential screw-face roller, ‘Portland’ sees Rene LaVice celebrating everything we love about dark, dirty drum & bass. Unrelenting reload-ready bass tones laid gracefully over tight breakbeat: this is a future classic. No question. 
‘Nightfall’ follows. Known for his sharp-tongued MC acuity, here Codebreaker reveals his stunning and soulful vocal skills. Complemented by Stealth’s uncompromising, sheet metal riddim and iced-out mournful minor chords, there’s an incredible sense of balance and head-turning contrast. Truly unique. 
Dose finalises this gargantuan two part EP series with the unruly romp ‘Bounce Off’. Sprung with chop-slapping bass, mind-blowingly heavy kick drums and a hype-heaving MC vocal, this ferocious tear-up lives up to its name in every way: Dancefloor mayhem guaranteed… There is no better way to conclude one of Ram Records’ biggest EP releases of 2013.

DC Breaks - Slugs

Graduating from his ProgRAM label debut and a pivotal secondary release on the same label, Ram Records artist Frankee deservedly earns an exclusive spot on the acclaimed label with his latest offering “Black Heart/Wonderland.”

A tune that’s been making the rounds and doing damage all over the globe thanks to label head Andy C, “Black Heart” opens with throaty synths and jabbing drums that build-up in anticipation to a crisp crash of reverberated white noise and vocal hymns.

A serrated-like bassline follows, sawing along as the vocal sample continues to echo and increase in pitch while the bassline speeds up in oscillation and cleverly dissipates, building an immense amount of tension. Upon the drop, Frankee unravels a clean roller that bounces and stabs along in addition to croaking bass stabs, lashing drums, and haunting vocal whispers that build back into the original sample as the song progresses.

A worldwide dance music institution, Andy C and Scott Bourne’s record label has gone from strength to strength, having nurtured a plethora of the bass music scene’s most exciting artists over the last two decades.

One such artist is Culture Shock. A Ram Records star since his debut release in 2006, this incredible producer has collaborated with Sub Focus and Brookes Brothers and remixed Nero’s ‘Guilt’ and Netsky’s brand new single ‘Come Alive’ into veritable drum & bass anthems. Meanwhile his solo productions have turned dance floors across the globe upside down thanks to his powerful productions and inimitable approach to D&B.

Here Culture Shock follows up last year’s ‘Protection’ with another stunning single that’s sure to please fans of his unique style. ‘I Remember’ is progressive dance floor drum & bass at its finest. Gradually building and growing, pulling you in gently and never letting go, this track is the perfect balance of beautiful musicality and effortless, uninhibited energy. Fans of Culture Shock’s sound will be instantly infatuated with this one.

Meanwhile ‘Troglodyte’ demonstrates Culture Shock’s deeper and darker side perfectly. Rolling and bouncing along with a squelching bassline and chopped up vocal snippets this Caveman style skull smasher threatens to bash anything in its path with an immense bassline club, expertly crafted for maximum floor-shaking damage.
