These tracks were recorded in a single session at the end of 2022 and received minimal overdubs of percussion. Even the delays and effects were mostly recorded live between tape machines, delays and a harmonizer.

Kindred Spirit is the latest collaborative project from Pyrrhus & Vela — an exploration of connection, creativity, and shared experience. I was reeeaaallly into the album "Sao Paolo" by Brasilian keys player Cesar Mariano when I got asked to do this rmx. So i decided to do it as if it was Cesar's band doing a rmx of it. I was sort of way to challenge myself to see if I capture that vibe. Also, Cinematic and Cesar Mariano both have made some of the most beautiful songs that groove in the 7/8 time signature. I had a blast making this one. Shout out the Eska on vocals. She is amazing!! We had some good times hanging out together in NY and London. And it was an honor to remix a Cinematic Orchestra track!!!

Unusual Sounds is a deep dive into a musical universe that has, until now, been accessible only to producers and record collectors; a celebration of this strange industry and an examination of its unique place at the nexus of art and commerce.
 
The perfect companion to the David Hollander curated book Unusual Sounds: The Hidden History of Library Music (out now on Anthology Editions), these 20 tracks, encapsulate the niche and fascinating subculture of library music. Genres were spliced, conventions dispensed with, and oftentimes hybrid music of astonishing complexity was produced. Elements of rock, jazz, soul, even twentieth-century avant-garde composition were all utilized, and no stone was left unturned. As a result, some of the best library music defies all categorization, reflecting the individualistic quirks and artistry of the various musicians who made it.

Riding on the heels of their first single off of <i>Vol. 2 (Walk On By)</i> with its orchestral soul arrangements, the second single from <i>Vol. 2</i>, Rotary Connection's "I Am the Black Gold of the Sun," is an ode to the beautifully epic orchestral arrangements of producer Charles Stepney.

But this time, the Decoders have decided to venture into the Brazilian repertoire, incorporating Samba and Jazz elements into the group's psychedelic soul arrangement.

This version features <a href="http://soundcloud.com/wax-poetics/sets/venice-dawn-something-about/">Adrian Younge's Venice Dawn</a> vocalists Loren Oden and Brooke De Rosa on vocals, as well as Jungle Fire's Steve Haney on percussion and Brazilian musician Quetzal Guerrero on percussion and berimbau.

The artwork for the single is an original painting by Los Angeles–based artist Michelle Robinson. Michelle's work has been praised by Cee-Lo Green, among others. For more info, check out her <a href="http://www.michellizm.com/">website</a>.
