A chill drum and bass track. A bit funky as well.

A track that came together so organically I can't even explain it.
It's one I am very proud of.

Imagine if John Carpenter hired Pink Floyd to make an 80's horror film soundtrack and Alt-J came in at the end to round it out.

So happy I was able to keep my annual horror themes going within this project.

Week 45: The Vast Presence Of Future

This week's song is a simple one.
But in a way, that felt right to me.

I enjoy not being able to place this one in a genre or style.

Again, a song title I've had for a very long time.
In all honesty I used it for another track years and years ago.
It just felt right for this one, at this time.

Week 46: Love Letter

This week's track started as a short loop, which sounded nothing like this.

I eventually came up with the chorus melody and it just hit me: "This is a straight 90's banger."

It came together in a few hours and completely replaced the song I had started earlier this week.

I absolutely love the music I grew up with throughout the 90's and this is my "Love Letter" to that.

Week 47: Annihilator 

This is kind of a part 2 to A Collective Lag from a few weeks ago.

Another sequenced centered track. Dystopian and electronic.
The fuzzed bass and drums give this a bouncy feel that I like.
This one came together in the late hours of the last few days.

Week 48:  Flash In The Pan

This week's track is a dance-y disco instrumental.

Somewhat inspired by Zeppelin's Trample Underfoot and that era of their music.

With the drum beat and pianos it really grooves the whole way through. I really had fun making this one.

Week 49: Exit Noise

I had planned to have a completely different sounding track when I sat down to make a track this week.

That didn't work out so, this little weird instrumental came out.

It reminds me of the first track I made for this year long project: COLT
Which seems fitting as I approach the end here.

I had a lot of fun with the guitar tone and synth tracks.

We've entered the final month of this venture. Only 3 weeks to go!

Week 50: The Rift

I'm not quite sure how to define this one.
A strange piano/synth spacey track.

For some reason some of the synths came out mono and others stereo which gives the song a strange feeling. I decided to leave that the way it is.

Week 51: Cardinal

A simple winter-y instrumental track.
I used a lot of vintage gear on this one. Including a tiny Casio keyboard through an Echoplex. That same melody line is double tracked with a Korg MS-20.
Simple song with warm gear.

I can't believe next week is the end of this year long journey. 
One more to go!

Week 52:  Years End

A semi electro infused Christmas song.
A sampled break beat with an old timey feel in the other instrumentation.
Feels like a perfect end to this year of music.
A weekly journey I can't believe has come to and end.

52 tracks. A total runtime of: 2 hours,  16 minutes and 33 seconds. 😳

I cannot even begin to come up with the words to express the feelings I have here at the end.
There were so many times I didn't think I could keep it going, but I surprised myself every week.

I am so happy with the songs I've created throughout this project.
All the ideas and influences I was able to put into each and every one of them.
Songs I've had in my head for years. Others that came together from nowhere.

I also surprised myself by creating some of my favorite tracks I've ever made.

This year marks 20 years I've been playing and creating music. Ever since I stole my brother's guitar at age 12.
It's a very special milestone and I couldn't be happier with something like this to commemorate where I started and where I am in my musical journey.

I have to give a very very special thanks to Haley for supporting me and pushing me through this. Even when I felt fried and like nothing was going right, she pulled me through and kept my creativity alive.
Also her amazing artwork and cover art each week made things even better and added so much to each track.
