“Watch Me Work” was a fun song for me to create. I felt like I was in my element as far as the rhyming patterns, the flow, the delivery, and the lyricism over a very high energy beat. I wanted to create a song to show the confidence that I’ve gained over the years not just through my music but what I’ve gained through my growth as a person as well. In a sense, I want people to “Watch Me Work” and see what transpires in a few years with my music career. I feel like this song is relatable to anyone who is pursuing a goal in life. Whether it’s a music/entertainment career, sports career, or whatever passion drives you, I feel like this song places a confident mindset onto the listener to go out show the world what you are capable of.

This was a song I created with all of the pressure that comes with trying to pursue anything in life. With me being an artist and a creative, it's not a day that goes by where the pressure to be great doesn't get to me. Feelings of failure start to creep. Feelings that I could possibly let my family and friends down, but you have to push through the negativity and keep pursuing whatever it is in life that you want. This song is one that I wanted to create to display those feelings of failure and pressure that I go through and how I still try to progress and push through it to reach my goal.

All On Me (Prod. By Malakinesis)

The Destination was a song that I created with thoughts of accomplishments in my mind. As an artist and as someone that is pursuing a goal, we all have something that we want in life, and there are instances where we may get distracted or we focus so much on what it’ll take to achieve our goals, and we start to lost sight of the actual goal. The first few lines of the hook and of the song, I say “Sometimes idk where I’m headed, I just gas up the whip and I ride, but I’m never feeling lost, as long as the lord on my side.” Those lines symbolize my trust in God that no matter what happens, or no matter how lost I may feel, I’ll never truly be with God my side. The last line in the hook says, “Everyday I put in work, I focus only on the destination,” which just confirms that until this pays off, I’m going to put all other thoughts to the side until this pays off in the end. I touch on how my growth as an artist is starting to fully show itself within this year and how I plan to continue pushing. With lines like “What would I stop for, I ain’t even made it up to the top floor,” this just drives home that feeling of, “yea I’ve accomplished more than I could’ve imagined even just at this point in my career but there is so much more that I have to accomplish as well. This song is set to release on all streaming platforms on October 4th.

“Something Special” was a song that I wanted to create to show a bit of confidence. I felt like 2019 was a pretty decent year for me as far last year being the first legit push with my music. I had a few good singles that gained me some traction and I was able to perform at a nice number of shows including opening up for Project Pat at the Bluff City Fair. With that being said, it’s time to make this year even bigger and better. “Ticking time bomb, I’m just waiting on my time to blow” is one of my favorite lines in the song. I love the statement that it makes by saying that, when the time is right and when God has put me in the right position, I’ll be ready to make some major moves with my music, and I want to try and make that happen very soon. I learned a lot in 2019. I struggled and grew from it in 2019. This year it’s time to show myself and the world that when it comes to music, I am something special.

“Back In My Zone” was a song that I created with the mindset of getting back to a point where you’re flourishing in whatever it is you’re working for in life. Whether it’s music like me, sports, entrepreneurship, a normal job, or just life in general, it’s about regaining that focus that you might’ve let slip away. Getting rid of all distractions and rededicating yourself to your journey and your end goal.

"On A Roll" was a song that I collaborated on with a good friend of mine by the artist name of TAITHEGAWD. This song describes the feeling of gaining momentum or gaining some type of ground in whatever it is that you're pursuing in life. Looking at life as domino effect. As one thing happens after another, the momentum begins to pick up and as you continue to push, the closer you will get to your goal. With clever lines and nice flow from both me and TAITHEGAWD over some very smooth and laid back production, I feel like this track came together very well.

“Lately” was a song that I created while dealing with the stagnation of the Covid-19 quarantine that I was feeling. I believe I speak for everyone when I say that a lot of plans for this year were put on hold due to Covid-19. As an artist and performer, I feel like I missed out on a lot of opportunities this year due the world basically being shut down. My studio times have not been as frequent, along with photo & video shoots, and I dealt with a lot of cancelled shows, in and out of my hometown of Memphis, TN. While putting all of that into perspective, I was dealing with a lot of doubt and ultimately decided take a break and put my music on hold for a few months. As things started to open back up, I started to rethink my career as well as my plans for the rest of this year and how I could possibly reinvent myself with my music going forward. This song, along with a few others, was a product of that reinvention process. “Lately success been weighing heavy on my mind” is probably one of my favorite lines of this song, because it captures how I have been feeling these past few months as I slowly got back into my music. Being able to still have that desire and drive to pursue a dream regardless of the circumstances, I feel can inspire anyone. We all need motivation to work harder. This entire year has been a huge adjustment for all of us but I still believe that if you truly want to chase your goals, you can still find a way to do that, and I believe that this songs embodies that motivation “go get it” mentality perfectly.

“Up Now” is a song that I created with the idea of “I’ve been struggling so far, but I’m finally reaching a breakthrough towards my goal.” This song exemplifies confidence in your growth and movement towards whatever goals you’re trying to reach in life. Of course for me it’s pursuing music, but for someone else it may be playing sports, or a getting new home, buying a new car, etc., but whatever goal that you’re working towards, have confidence in it and not only have confidence in it, but be proud in where where you are and how far you’ve come. Often times we take our growth for granted (me included), and it’s always good to pat yourself on the back for your accomplishments and relish the fact that you were down at one point, but you’re up now.

Up Now (Prod. By Sekko) (RELEASES FEBRUARY 19TH)

DeVonte James Robinson, also known by the stage name of Tay Rob, is a hip-hop artist that was born in Ft. Irwin, California, but shortly after moved to Ft. Knox, Kentucky and then to Memphis, Tennessee where he has currently resided for 15 plus years. He started writing music during his senior year in high school, but did not start recording music until the fall of 2016 as a sophomore in college at the University of Memphis. Over the next few months, Tay would develop his craft and sound, and finally released his first song titled “Let Me Speak To Em” during the summer of 2017. That year also seen Tay release a song titled “Praying For You,” which was dedicated to the flood victims in Houston from the devastating hurricanes. As the summer of 2018 rolled around, Tay decided to put his music on hold, as he found out that he was eligible for graduation from the University of Memphis during the summer semester. After his college graduation in August of 2018, Tay resumed his music career. Now at age 23, he has developed a much more confident and polished sound. A rare, non vulgar and clean style of rap, along with witty wordplay and lyricism helps Tay set himself apart from other artists. Tay is diverse enough to create lyrical and high energy tracks such as “Watch Me Work” and “Square One,” and is also able to create soulful and meaningful pieces such as “The Destination” and “Balance.”
