The connection between Mareena and Connwax has always been close. She's played Trakt 1 several times at our event at Institut fuer Zukunft. We are all the more pleased that she was able to record a podcast for our Selected series, because Mareena's as busy as ever despite closed clubs.
She has just released her first album together with Leisure Systems JakoJako, is working on her own ambient imprint UNRUSH and has recorded sets for renowned platforms such as Groove and HÖR.
In the summer, there will be a release on Tresor Records (also together with JakoJako), the club's label where she's held a residency for many years.

That's exactly what Mareena delivers in these 70 minutes. Groovy, straight techno that never loses its tension and reminds us of the roots of this music at every corner of the set.

When you meet Stojche for the first time and start talking to him, you are quickly impressed by his personality and how he philosophises about electronic music. Like all great ambassadors of music and their craft, there's a genunine warmth and openness which is hard not to like. This openness is also noticeable in his music, the influences of Detroit Techno and Chicago are unmistakable. The ease of mixing and the extraordinary selection of tracks make his sets something special. Over the last decade he has slowly etched his name of Europe's underground circuit, contributing his music to labels like A.r.t.less, DMK, Subwax, Sungate and Infiltrate, to name just a few. Last year he realised and released his first solo album ,,Urban Chaos'' on his own great imprint Tangible Assets, a tribute to his hometown Skopje.

Around 2000 in Leipzig, Germany: Hypezig, gentrification and techno capitalism was in the distant future.

At that time we enthusiastically experienced Resom's first DJ sets in the basement of Giro e.V. in Connewitz, a district of Leipzig where Connwax was also founded. As member of the former Homo Elektrik collective in Leipzig as well as her current home base at ://about blank and Palomabar in Berlin, the avid vinyl collector further developed her style to an expression of organic diversity, emotional spaces and atmospheric energy. Besides, she has been actively engaged in the social and cultural side of the music scene curating the multifaceted conceptual event „The Amplified Kitchen“ in addition to her work for the last ten years teaching DJ workshops for women and regular radio show “Complex” at refugeworldwide.com.

It's all about resonance, feedback, depth, transparency and honesty, connection and shadows. We are happy to share Resom's driving exploration of contemporary techno!

With her mixing prowess, the mix twists between rolling drum workouts, acid laced cuts, deep and moody techno and percussive monsters. Resom blends the elements together into a striking and powerful podcast.

Anyone who has visited various events in the Leipzig area in the last 10 years will know Motram. Either at events at Institut für Zukunft, where he is a resident of the local Pillenrealität and Rillendisco series, or at small afterhour-like events in off-locations or at open airs. 
Those who know Motram like his reserved manner when it comes to techno. He likes events with unreleased line-ups and prefers to focus on the music rather than himself. Some might call him "underrated", but he wouldn't even have a problem with that description. Musically he likes it mostly harder, deep and trippy, techno without compromise, always with an eye on the dancefloor and of course 100% vinyl. 
Motram x Connwax= love, peace and a long friendship that hopefully will never end. Thank you !

PVC-resident V:SONNTAG is an excellent match for our Connwax Selected series: Almost every day she spends time on researching newer and older music, her biggest joy being just listening and diving into moods. She’s particularly fascinated by the versatility of atmospheres and emotions techno can express. On one hand, she loves „fast, playful, sexy and groovy techno, that might at times contain acid or psy elements“, making the audience sweat and have a blast. On the other hand she likes techno on the darker side, which she can lose herself in. While preparing for this podcast V:SONNTAG envisioned a particular setting, that she’s been missing dearly during the past 1 1/2 years: „During my preparations I had Trakt 1 at Institut für Zukunft in mind and felt like recreating its vibe by playing a hypnotic, forceful mix on the faster range of techno“. Connwax Selected #019 | V:SONNTAG

Initially inspired by the subcultural scene of his hometown of Lübeck, the young artist was strongly influenced by the predominant sound of the Leipzig techno scene. Especially the infamous Institut fuer Zukunft and its hypnotic and dissociative sound significantly formed his
distinctive style and quickly paved his way into the local scene.
Over the years his sonic palette grew and now reaches from soothing ambient and downtempo to dark and dissociative contemporary techno.

In 2017 Kontinum co-founded the collective Nebula and, after organising their first raves, the collective quickly found its way into Leipzig's club scene and managed to establish its own event series at Institut fuer Zukunft.

In addition to managing most of Nebula's musical affairs, Kontinum continues to steadily enhance his own remarkable sound which can already be listened to on his releases on labels such as The Gods Planet, Lowless and Agos.

Our last podcast of 2021 comes from IFZ resident Subkutan from Leipzig. 
As part of Vertigo, he created an event series many years ago that gave a stage to a harder, darker and more industrial approach to techno. 
He has remained more or less true to this sound in recent years, not only as a DJ and producer but also as part of the live project Artificial Paradise, where he performs together with the Leipzig artist Leshrac.

A first-ever collaboration between established electro commanders Luke Eargoggle and Sync 24 opens the record in toxic floor burner fashion, followed by a cold and tightly programmed electro journey by -=UHU=-, blending the mechanic and the monotone in a comment on today’s relationship between machine and man. 

Building on strong previous releases with Lobster Theremin and Klasse Wrecks, Privacy kicks off the flip and takes the tempo down with a booming, melodic electro cut, followed by a funky acid workout by Etcher featuring his signature bubbly basslines and soothing synths.

Do you know TAZ? No? 
Well, he may be one of the most underrated DJs around Leipzig, collecting and mixing records since the early 90s (true story). He´s founder of Connwax and Possblthings records releasing quality techno and electro for the under- and overground without compromises. He is also involved in Young Shields, one of Leipzig’s freshest and coolest party crews, throwing parties at the famous Institut für Zukunft and various off-locations crossing genre borders between electro, acid and powerhouse.
With three turntables (!) he is mixing the records from the depths of his next level record collection which weighs more than a ton causing him real troubles while living in a way to small apartment. Nonetheless, he is the living proof, that bike helmets can help you to survive cycling in a vehicle war we call the streets of Leipzig.
