Christianoshi is a London-based pop artist who is being hailed as a contemporary model of cherished electronic acts such as Depeche Mode, Erasure, Soft Cell, Pet Shop Boys and Rick Astley. As a melody-focused songwriter with underground production sensibilities and an impressive vocal, it’s not difficult to imagine why. 

His debut single ‘Trust’ was described by Electronic Rumors as a “catchy pop juggernaut”, while The VPME crowned its follow-up - ‘Fool’ - Track of the Day on 25 September 2012. Both releases are available to digitally download and are being promoted at shows across London venues including the revered Heavenly Recordings’ establishment The Social and the legendary Royal Vauxhall Tavern.

To Be Continued, Volume Seventeen

DIRTYCHEEKS is a DJ from Brixton, South London. He’s been DJ’ing for almost 20 years, and is a familiar face on the London club circuit. When asked what made him want to start DJ’ing, he answers not having enough time or access to the right training to become a politician, a ninja, a footballer or play lead guitar.

It seems that the London club scene is lucky that none of these alternative career options took off.

After listening to DJs such as Hype, Andy C, Gilles Peterson et al, DIRTYCHEEKS was drawn to the rave scene. He started his career out of his bedroom, working on various pirate radio stations, and then moving on to bars, clubs and programming live shows. During his time working as a full-time DJ, DIRTCHEEKS has worked on a range of events, from Loveboxx, Parklife and Plan B, to exclusive events at member’s bars, celebrity weddings and even corporate events.

‘We have our arts so that we don’t die of truth.’

Taylor McWilliams, one quarter of DJ collective Housekeeping, cites this famous Nietzsche quote to illustrate what art means to him, while fellow ‘housekeeper’ Jacobi Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe elaborates: ‘Art is triggering an emotional response or feeling in someone through any of their senses. Whether it is visual- through music, poetry, movement or taste, art provokes an emotional response which is out of the individual’s control.’

This central theme of escapism is clear when exploring the collective’s project of shaking up nightclubs’ presently stagnant landscape, by organising parties with a hedonistic vibe, reminiscent of the early-90s clubbing golden age. And if you’ve been lucky enough to attend one of their ‘Seven Deadly Sins’ nights at London’s KOKO you will know how successfully they’ve achieved this.

Also comprising the musical talents of Carl Waxberg and Sebastian Macdonald-Hall, Housekeeping have been spinning their unique blend of deep, funky and tech house for the past three years, even though, of course, music has always played a part in their lives.
