Second compilation of a “This Is How We Break…” series focused on breaks and bass music to enlighten our emerging electronic scene from France and abroad.

Based on the free interpretation of the ‘breakbeat’ genre, the breadcrumb trail of this second compilation is the theme “from happy to dark” (or the other way) to celebrate the fluctuation of emotions whether positive or negative. Over-cultivated positivism implies the rejection and the covering up of negative emotions… This compilation is here to reminds you to live fully your emotions and only think about what’s best for you. It’s OK not to always look on the bright side of things. Be gentle to yourself.

Barcelona-based creative platform ABUNDANCE is set to release their highly anticipated first compilation ‘FLORILEGI I’. Meaning a ‘collection of flowers’ in Catalan, this series of works aims to shed light on some of the most exciting sounds coming out of the city’s multi-faceted musical ecosystem. 

From B4MBA’s industrial dancehall version ‘Charmed Riddim’ and the driving, hardware-heavy techno of ‘H13’ by ellian, the modular tension and release in glxgls’ ‘Brr Brr’, to the dubbed out two-step of ‘cute nenas love groovin’’ by AINES & ALVVA. These fourteen standout tracks, plucked and arranged, showcase the wide range of genre cross-pollination occurring within the Catalan capital. 

ABUNDANCE is dedicated to championing local talent, serving as a non-profit artistic collective, record label and event organisers. This inaugural compilation is the beginning of a new chapter, connecting the dots from the diverse corners of the creative scene, expanding possibilities for collaboration for the future.

Ranging from meticulously crafted techno by Elisa Batti and Carlotta Jacobi, CDF's dreamy house music, FIGI & LUUKA’s off-kilter electro, Teqmun’s stripped-down, direct bass music, to R&B singer Tico Mac, along with theater maker Keely Westwood, V/A LOCH INN at De School plays as a curious, genre-defying ride.

∎ One of our favorite UK labels, All Centre, is releasing their first project by DJ QGB as ACEN057. After releasing two exceptional LPs in 2018 and 2022, he steps out from his own label @presenttenserecords for the first time to explore a club-ready approach to his singularly intricate sound. 

Across the four tracks, he strips his work down to basics and chases “expensive sounds”.

Das Auto (2022)

Black and white tones remind me of minimalistic, powerful rhythms and vibrations that move through the body.

When I made the tracks and painted the artwork, I trusted my intuition. In my mind, I saw angular, square shapes that, in combination with strong contrasts, created an image of vibration. Something hypnotic and deeply resonant. 

I wanted to fuse deep bass atmospheres and the relentless momentum of techno. Creative, percussive and unmistakably dubby. Raw and distinctive soundscapes that wake you up and pull you in, with a vibe that’s full of energy yet never loses its punch. Every element is finely tuned to maintain that mystical, percussive groove: hypnotic, dubbed-out momentum.   

I've closed the EP with a cinematic outro that I hope conveys a deep an lingering intensity. Textures in slow motion puling you inward, shaping in your mind as you slowly dissolve into meditation.

MUADEEP has also honored me with a fresh and genre-bending jersey-perspective in his remix.

Square Resonance

Two Shell are back on Livity Sound with probably their best work yet! This track continues to develop and mutate, with layers upon layers of pulsing percussive sonics, merged with otherworldly sounds. Modern UK Techno at its absolute finest.
