Mischievous bouncer ‘Operator’ featuring Gemma Fox starts us out in a playful mood but slowly develops into a synth solo laden groove flex. Hans taps on @Event_HorizonMusic and Whiskey Pete for help with bass face inducing ‘Serene’. This one takes us on a mind altered quest from club demon to half time garage wonkiness. ‘Breathe’ ends the EP off with a warm blanket of NUKG goodness. Comprising 11 high-grade UK Garage tracks made both solo and in collaboration with his peers from either side of the Atlantic, Est. 2003 cements Q’s status as one of the UK's most important living artists, one whose musical DNA can be found in everything from contemporary UKG and pop to underground grime and bassline.

Released on September 23, Est. 2003 gets right to the essence of what makes Q so special. There’s no unnecessary concepts or narratives, no needless experimentation - it’s simply DJ Q, at the top of his game, flexing on everyone for a water-tight 36 minutes.

The album's lead single 'Sweet Day' is out now - a long-overdue link-up between Q and Todd Edwards that was worth the wait, and a marriage of both their distinctive styles.

Downplay is proud to welcome back London producer Kells to the label with his brand new release, ‘Flinch’.

‘Flinch’ immediately impresses from its first bars. It’s the kind of uniquely joyful sonic mixture that only UK Garage can really deliver, and Kells is an expert in crafting these pitch-perfect 2-step gems. Sprightly percussion drives the groove, whilst a glittering selection of keys and strings let the melody bloom across the track. In short, UKG heaven.

‘Extra Faff’ toughens up the formulae a little for a broken-beat inspired roller that comes packed with jazz-inflected chords and motifs. Juicy bass stabs take the track direct to the dancefloor, whilst swirling synths provide the atmosphere. A real piece of production expertise that will warm up any set expertly.

One of the hottest names in the scene, Manchester don Yemi delivers a remix masterclass with his take on the title track. Maximising the raw groove of the original with a lazerbeam-like focus, he delivers a techy, percussive roll-out that absolutely slaps on every level.
