For the 341st chapter of the Deep Breakfast Series, and the final release of the year, we’re truly delighted to welcome the one and only bvdub, presenting one of his rare DJ sets.

When Brock sent this over, we couldn’t have known how deeply it would resonate. Just under two hours long, it unfolds as a reflective journey: patient, quietly powerful, and emotionally distant in all the right ways.
This mix is rare not only for its depth, but also because Brock creates only when the moment and inspiration align perfectly. It’s not about assembling tracks; it’s about being in the right mental and emotional space, fully committing to the journey. That’s what makes this set feel so precious and unique.

When we talk about it, it makes you want to smile, but at the same time your eyes can fill with tears. And, speaking about saudade, I have a lot. Sunday is a saudade called Minas Gerais. Of the dreams I dreamed, of others that I didn't even allow myself to dream. In any corner of the world, saudade follows me, but especially in autumn. This sensation of things lost, past and future, grips me in the present. Sometimes it flows through my fingers, run over by the rush of everyday life. Saudade is what proves to us that we love, that we lived moments that were worthwhile, and that we have stories that deserve to be remembered. It's what connects us with what we were and who we were. Sunday is a day to remember everything you had, have and could have had. It's a time to be grateful, despite anything else.
To me, this mix conveys a feeling not only of nostalgia but also the alchemy of saudade into a deep moment of rest and introspection. Watch the sun's rays come in through the window and smell the lush birth of a new day. I hope this selection brings warmth and spurs energy for your day.

Very few musical acts achieve the levels of unanimous acclaim of Autechre. The English duo of Rob Brown and Sean Booth are not an act you simply like; they are an act you love, fawn over and dream about. They’ve got themselves here over the course of the last 28 years, and have done so by amassing a discography that’s about as perfect, influential and accomplished as could ever be possible. A key Warp label act from day one, they have released tens of albums, well over a ten EPs and have featured on a dizzying amount of essential compilations, mixes and remixes in that time. Without their contribution to the IDM canon, its fair to say the modern musical landscape would look very different. 

Rhythmic but experimental, absorbing yet abstract, cerebral and psychedelic, their ever evolving output is up there with the likes of fellow luminaries Boards of Canada and Aphex Twin as some of the most important in all of electronic music. As well as being fine craftsmen in the studio, Autechre are also revered live performers who really manage to conjure up captivating and otherworldly soundtracks that marry heavy bass with ethereal melody. The pair themselves do not care for genre, but suffice it to say that they have mastered everything from hardcore to ambient to glitch and plenty of indescribables in between. 

When the pair recently laid down an impressive set at Dekmantel Festival, we asked if they might be up for a doing an early inspiration mix, whereby they put together a collection of the sort of electro and hip hop tracks that turned them on as youths. At first they hesitated, pointing out that "we don't do strictly retro stuff, it's too corny.” But alas, a few days later, a huge file landed in our inbox… That file is a 4 hour and 18 minute mix that basically encapsulates not just Autechre’s own influences, but also acts as a fine anthology of the greatest electro sounds of all time. Every sub genre imaginable gets touched upon along the way, with nods to forefathers like Kraftwerk, killer cuts from Man Parrish, classics from Newcleus and retro gold from the likes of The Beat Club. It is a thrilling ride and a truly rare treat that reminds us just why we love Autechre, as well as shining a light on a vast genre that often pays second fiddle to house and techno.

We are thrilled to share Mary Yuzovskaya's set recorded live from Monument Festival 2025 as part of our MNMT 500 celebrations.

Mary Yuzovskaya runs her set like an old but reliable steam engine locomotive. Except this train is going to Hogwarts. Mary is a responsible conductor, making sure everyone is on board, getting their bodies going at a steady pace, warming up the system for what's to come. Later.

Her sound lives in a hypnotic but assertive space. The hypnotic part comes from steady patterns that loop and settle into the body. Rhythms that repeat long enough to quiet the thinking mind. You are not distracted by constant changes. The groove stays in place and draws you in through consistency.

The whole Monument family is dancing in sync. Looking as good as ever. High in energy and anticipation. And then. The sky opens. But, we have our best lasers ON, saved for this occasion, saturday night, they weren't used on friday at all, and when the pouring rain hits the upgraded lasers, we have a million diamonds falling towards us. The crowd roars. Celebrates what nature throws at us. Surrenders to its will. No one left the dancefloor to seek refuge in their tents. No one. Mary Yuzovskaya responds...

If you were there, you know that this was the start to what can only be described as the Champions League of festival night shifts. With Yuzovskaya, Pacho and Doltz seemingly playing one after another. Mary’s job was to get the crowd going, but at the same time leave room for more. She delivered.

A couple of months ago I decided it was time to put some of the incredible atmospheric drum and bass tracks that I’ve purchased over the last 12 months into a mix. 
As I started putting it together, I was blown away with the quality of the tracks. While individually the tracks are amazing, I think the final mix is pretty damn incredible.  Take a listen, I hope you feel the same way too.
